It’s funny--I have the opposite problem whenever I travel to Europe in particular. I look at the map and assume I’d need tons of time to get around and then realize how tiny the country is.
F2F5: I forget that everyone isn't us
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
That happened to me planning France and Scotland this past year. You'd think I'd know better by now.
Planning our trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland is hilarious. The WHOLE ISLAND is only 304 miles long! That’s less than the distance between LA and San Francisco!
This is why Javachik and I need to go again, but this time see ALL THE THINGS.
Shir, I filled out the info on the Google doc. Drew and I are excited to drive you from LA to SF (and megan walker, you’re welcome to join us!); we haven’t done it in years, and it’s gorgeous. And we may have to stay overnight at the Madonna Inn: [link] and see Hearst Castle: [link] on the way.
MW recommends both highly.

Yes, I do. And conveniently located at the halfway point.
When the time comes, I will thank Shir for getting you both up here (finally)!
K. and I are planning our Ireland trip now, too, and I keep reminding myself we can drive the length of the whole country in one day including pit stops; we have plenty of time to go everywhere we want to. America really is huge. Canada too: We're planning a trip to Alaska for next year, and I was shocked to realize how long it would take to drive to Juneau from Seattle (like 5 days). North America, man.
This is why Javachik and I need to go again, but this time see ALL THE THINGS.
Man, I wanna go with you guys!!
Shir, another way to look at it is that Israel is a really tiny country. I believe it could comfortably fit into most German or French provinces. (Well, give the history of France and Germany vs. a vs. us Jews, the fit would not actually be comfortable.)
I live in Connecticut, which is near New York, so happy to come down to meet up.
