The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hey, do I need a car for the New Orleans portion of my September trip, or is public transportation/taxi going to be better?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Where are you staying and what do you want to do?

ETA: Public transportation, to my memory, was pretty shitty, but there are new streetcar lines open, so that may help.

The Wyndham French Quarter, and hag out with Nora and Tom and Smonster and others.

Between the cost of renting a car and the cost of parking at the hotel, my guess is that you probably would do better without one. Other people who have lived there more recently may chime in.

I never rented a car when I visited New Orleans and I did fine. Cabs are pretty cheap. My preference was to walk, take a streetcar out to some destination and then cab back in the afternoon.

Parking in the Quarter is a bitch, so I'd recommend against a car. There are local car rental places on Canal if something comes up. Cabs are a good option around here.

Okay! I will plan on returning the car when I first get there.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

We are in NYC and we found us a very wonderful Scola for lunch! Even better yet, when I emailed about the hip locally-sourced hot dog joint we had in mind, Tom said "ooh, right next door to the comics store!"

Which I believe translates as "SCORE".

although, when you call for a cab, do it from your hotel. We discovered that they don't answer calls from non Nola numbers.

Huh, a lot of locals don't have local numbers and I've never heard of this as an issue before.
