Hm, I assume my office is closed on the 4th. I should probably find that out. I could maybe get somewhere for dinner on the 3rd? Maybe brunch on the 4th, is that a thing? I don't like to travel on holidays because it tends to be a PITA, but maybe early in the day would be okay.
F2F5: I forget that everyone isn't us
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
The Marin County Fair will be going on. Booths, Art, animals, and music. And food. Oh, and fireworks every night over the lagoon. It's north across the Golden Gate Bridge from SF about 15 miles. The Fair is on the grounds of the only public building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright that was actually built. [link]
Also in Marin: [link] Muir Woods. Angel Island: [link]
There are all sorts of groupons to do stuff in the area. Tip: 511.org for transportation and transit info. You are better off getting around by transit in SF IMHO.
Hi everyone! Monica here! Looking forward to seeing you some of you in a week and a half or so (yay!) I'm not sure when we'll be coming back from Mountain View on Wednesday night - I'll talk to my friends down there. It's amazing how quickly a week fills up! But I am pro-public transit, pro-nature, pro-saving a few dollars, pro quirky cultural things in general. :) I interned in the city a few years back, so I adore it, and generally know my way around.
Hey Monica! Looking forward to meeting you. Pencil breakfast at Zazie's while you're here. We'll get some gingerbead pancakes.
My buddy K and I are looking into doing a road trip at the end of July - Denver to Vegas to LA up the coast to SF, day tripping to the vineyards and hopefully an A's game, then over to South Lake Tahoe and back to Denver. That is about 46 hours of driving over maybe 9 days. Are we nuts?
That sounds pretty doable, Suzi.
We are trying to coordinate it so that we are in SF at my dad's for a few days. Hotel night in Vegas, maybe something up the coast of CA, then dad's, then a place or two on the way home. K has never been to CA. She wants to see the Hollywood sign, I want to take her to Santa Cruz, and then show off the bay area.
Sounds like fun, Suzi.
That sounds like a car trip planned by my father. Or, you know, me on a day I'm feeling very restless. That is, awesome, but a little crazy.
With 2 drivers, driving-wise it's not too bad, but actually stopping and doing things, I'd say that will be very tight, especially for the LV to SF portion if you are talking about the coast. Maybe plan on a night just north of LA, then one around Santa Cruz?
For something to do between LA & SF, might I suggest Hearst Castle [link]
He built it as a rest point between the two cities for his rich friends. Now it's a national landmark. I haven't been yet myself, but I hear it is lovely!
And hey, if your a baseball fan, what about Dodgers or Angels baseball in SoCal?
