F2F5: I forget that everyone isn't us

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.

Ha! Although, I fear, I will be in the same boat. I'm not great at being "team leader" or "Julie the Cruise Director". But, since it's in my back yard, I will try and be a bit more active in putting out ideas for folks. All mentioned abvove are great ideas! Huntington, Norton Simon, Griffith, We haven't mentioned the Getty Museums. A bit of a drive, but worth it. I have no clue about shopping, as it's not my thing. I know there are a lot of shops in that part of Pasadena. No matter who wins ya, Epic, everyone should have fun. Even if it's just lounging at the pool.

I have actually been meaning to mention the Getty, but flaking.

Also, that place that Kat mentioned once where you can do ice cream sandwiches where you choose the cookie & ice cream flavor (starts with a "D", I think it's somewhere by UCLA). Is that within reasonable travel distance? (I swear, you'd think that someone who's spent her whole life in San Diego would have a better notion of LA geography, but I'm just useless at it).

I live in Long Beach. Have worked in Orange County for 13 years now. My knowledge of north of Long Beach is mild at best. You are in San Diego. Much better excuse. I don't know much of SD except the park with the museums. And the tall ships. And Sea World. And... And... that's about it off the top of my head.

The status is NOT quo.

Anything outside of the immediate Pasadena/Glendale/Burbank area involves mondo traffic. Doable, yes, but there’s so much to do right here that I’d recommend sticking closer on this trip.

I’m game to do Huntington on Saturday after brunch, perhaps. They are only open from 10:30 - 4:30, so it’s good timing to leave room for Prom prep. There is an entrance fee of $20, though -- worth noting. I have a couple of free guest passes (we are members) that I would be happy to share with those who need a little financial help -- just let me know. Even though the weather will be nice, though, it’s a lot of walking and very warm in the gardens. I actually wouldn’t mind wandering down Colorado to poke into shops and restaurants if anyone wants to join.

And are we still good for Griffith on Sunday post-brunch? I know a couple of us have cars, so we shouldn’t have transportation issues.

Our wings are not tired

I'm still interested in going to the Peterson Automotive Museum if anyone else is interested.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Argh, my sister is coming to town with my niece for a dance competition, so I probably won't make it to the Prom. Saturday is a good day for their schedule, and I know my kids will want to spend as much time as possible with their cousin. But Friday night is all MINE, so I can come to the BBQ.

I don't know if I can go, but the Norton Simon is a terrific museum. I would definitely recommend going there given that the F2F is in Pasadena this year. Also love Huntington Gardens.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I would LOVE the Griffith. That's a definite for me.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Slight change in plans from the Portland Contingent. SA won't be able to make it and is seriously bummed. Since we won't be road tripping together, I'm considering flying and can get a pretty decent last minute fare on Southwest into Burbank, arriving 11:25am. Anyone else gonna be arriving in Burbank around that time and want to share a shuttle?

Also, if I do fly that will mean one less car for outings. I'm a little bummed, but it's also a really long drive by myself! Unless anyone else in the Pacific NW wants to ride share? I can pick up at the train station/bus station/airport at PDX or anywhere south of there....

eta: arriving in BUR airport 11:25 am on Friday, duh.

The status is NOT quo.

I can pick you up, Erin. Very sad about SA.

People, there is no way we are going to make the bar tab unless more Buffistas come. I'm getting a little concerned about the viability of Prom with so few attendees. Don't know if there is anything to do about it, but maybe we should consider seeing if the smaller indoor/outdoor room is open and just have quieter music. Thoughts?

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

And as for outings I would LOVE to see Griffith and Huntington (the walking no prob for me but the admission fee is a little spendy) and wouldn't mind some clothes shopping on Saturday since I have nothing nice to wear to prom (woe is me! i've outgrown all my pretty clothes :(

Also haven't yet seen any of the movies in theatres, would be game for Avengers, Magic Mike...yeah, I'll go pretty much anywhere others are going. And swimming. I loves me some water sports. Will be packing at least one swimsuit.
