Depending on interest, I might try to continue my tradition of getting together a Middle Eastern dinner party at Dar Maghreb in Hollywood (the place the tradition started at back in my early PBP days) either the Friday evening before prom or the Sunday after.

Hmmm, tell me more . . .

I will cross my fingers that the new job schedule allows me to come!

I had the best meal of my life there in 2000 for a Bronzer's birthday, and have made a point of trying to return every time I've visited LA since. It has not just the best Moroccan food I've ever eaten, but the best food, full stop.

The interior is done up like a Middle Eastern palace, with an interior courtyard/fountain and low couches arranged around round laquered tables. The meals are multi-course and shared by everyone at the table from big communal platters. Highlights include hot mint tea, savory b'stilla pastry, quail shish-ka-bob, and braised lamb with honey and prunes. And they have belly dancers performing on Friday and Saturday nights.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I figured it was a long shot. That early after the Prom and all. But I'm putting it out there. Since we gotta get up to check out of the hotel anyhow. What's an hour earlier to have yummy food in First Class dining on classic ship?

Eh. Just an idea.

Matt, why Friday or Sunday, not our traditional Prom night extravaganza?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm up for all three of those, space-time continuum allowing.

Well, it's in Hollywood about 20 miles from the hotel, and the restaurant doesn't open until 5:30, and the meals there take a looong time - like 2 1/2 hours if everyone is having fun. I didn't think people would want to be rushed, or miss the first part of prom.

The status is NOT quo.

Hm. Maybe we should do the BBQ as a Saturday afternoon/early evening thing before going back to the hotel and getting ready for Prom. Then we could do the restaurant Friday night...?

meara, I'd totally be up for dinner next week. Yay!

Also, woo, F2F! Thanks for organizing, Kristin.

Yay amyth and calli! I'm supposed to be staying at the Hyatt House near the airport. But I still haven't gotten any sort of "this is what time things start! we'll be doing dinner on this day!" type stuff. Dinner Sunday would probably be do-able...and I'm hoping to get to the grocery store at some point, but not before I figure out what they're feeding us and when we have dinner plans!
