Saffron: You won't tell anyone about me breaking down? Mal: I won't. Saffron: Then I won't tell anyone how easily I got your gun out of your holster. Mal: I'll take that as a kindness.

Not javachik

Let me know if you want me to help you arrange the rental of a Stinson Beach cottage for a VERY reasonable (nominal, really) price, if you want to take a day/night right at the beach. There really is nothing like waking up at the beach, and hearing the ocean as you fall asleep.

eta because it's not actually waterfront, but a few houses back from waterfront.

Our wings are not tired.

I'd love to see you, Beverly!

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

You know I'm there, Ms. Bev.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Lee, I don't know--I have no realistic appreciation for distances or driving times, so decisions will need to be guided by someone local. I'd like to do supper somewhere central so no one who wanted to come would be discommoded by, um, time and distance.

I want to see you all, too! But I know visiting each of you is going to be nigh impossible, so I thought of the supper thing. If anybody has a better idea, I'm all ears.

Java Cat, can you email me some details about the cottage?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Yay Bev and Mr. Bev! That's wonderful and excellent and we'll be there with bells on, any night at all.

Since airline prices have now dropped like mad, Zmayhem in Seattle is starting to look just possibly possible. It's still looking more likely that it'll be just one of us, though, due to budget and scheduling issues; and since one of those scheduling issues is that it's right around the start of baseball tournament season, it's possible that the just one might be me. Hec thinks that whoever goes, either me or him, should go alone and the at-home person keep Matilda, which seems both sensible and completely impossible. An entire solo weekend? Surely it cannot be done. I'm not completely sure I even exist apart from her anymore.

Thoughts or advice from other parents who've sprogged and F2F'd, or just sprogged and traveled at all, solo or with kid?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

As one who has done 2 F2F's with Em, I say go it without. While it would be awesome to see her, it would impede upon your abilities to have an truly awesome, kid-free vacation and debauchery.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I have no sprog and hence no idea, but it strikes me that the F2F could be one heck of a travelswithchild blogfest...

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Well, it's not like you couldn't find a babysitter for a little kid-free debauchery ...
