OK, in Providence proper (set on 'cheapest') Orbitz currently gives us:

Hampton Inn & Suites Providence Downtown 103.00 (117 with tax)

Sheraton Providence Airport Hotel 104.00 (117 with tax)

Radisson Hotel Providence Harbor 118.00 (133 with tax)

Hilton Providence 152.00 (172 w/tax)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hampton Inn has some good reviews on tripadvisor.com.

Trudy, those look like some good options. I need to look them up, but the airport hotel is probably not actually in Providence, since the Providence airport is not.

I have heard back from the Marriott, and they are ubfortunately completely booked for our weekend.

OK, just spoke to Orbitz, Hampton Inn only has one room left so that's out.

If we stay outside Providence proper we'll get a better deal on rooms. Looking at those now.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

The RI National Guard Airshow is going on the same weekend as the planned F2F. Granted, it's in North Kingstown, but DH has heard that hotels in Providence and Newport are filling up quickly.

If this is going to happen, it's got to happen soon.

Trudy, that hotel is a half hour outside of the city and much closer to the air show that Maria just mentioned. It doesn't really matter to me, but I want to make you aware fwiw.

I just left a message at the Hampton Inn directly rather than at Orbitz to see if they can offer me any kind of group rate.

How many rooms to you think we are looking at needing?

Beats me. We need to find a place with some rooms and go with it. In town, just out of town, way the hell out of town, whatever.
