Mal: Well, you were right about this being a bad idea. Zoe: Thanks for sayin', sir.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I might be available, but I've got a ton of work to do and I'm not sure when I'll be free.

Oh, Hil, that would be great. I was sorry I didn't get to see you while you were in SF!

They might have valet, but I have never been there when it wasn't full. Of course, it's Wednesday, so it might be a different story than a summer happy hour. :)

We use it all the time with success (but we never do summer happy hour)! Sometimes the wait staff even validates me without spending all I need to if the baby bats her eyelashes at them.

Sparky, you're so confident that you shouldn't need external validation. ;)

move out and draw fire

I'd love to (Baby! Javachik!), but I doubt I'll be able to get out of the NoVA gravity well tonight.

Raq! Let me know if you're available Friday? My conference ends at noon and I'm just going to go touristing. Anyone else? This town is host to some favorite peeps and it would be a pity to miss 'em.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The Weehawken Sheraton website gives a rate of $160 per night, double occupancy, Looks like we can save 15% just by booking 14 days in advance. ($136) What glories could be had with a group rate?

Enjoy a warm welcome and stunning view of the New York City skyline at the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel (Formerly the Sheraton Suites on the Hudson). Located just five minutes from midtown Manhattan, you can walk right outside our doors to board the New York Waterway Ferry and ride to NYC attractions.

Venture over to New York City and pay a visit to Radio City Music Hall, Times Square Ticket Booth, and South Street Seaport or experience world-renowned exhibits at Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History.

After a full day of business or sightseeing, relax in one of our 347 comfortable suites, each featuring a cozy duvet and plush pillows on our Sheraton Sweet SleeperSM Bed. Stay connected with the people who matter most with High Speed Internet Access, offered in each room.

The views are astonishing . It is right on the Hudson River. It is across from 42nd Street.

In addition to the ferry, we're right by the light rail which would take us the two miles to the PATH train and New Jersey Transit. There are also several bus lines. Basically, we can easily access several points on the West Side of Manhattan. (And the ferry to Yankee Stadium)

It is a 10-30 minute taxi costing $30-$65 to Newark Airport depending on time of day. There are also cheaper bus and train options.

There is free Self Parking. Valet is $25 a day.

I think there are two reasons for the good pricing. The first is mentioned on the website:

Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation through the fall of 2010. Our re-imagined guest rooms will include two flat screen televisions, new bathrooms, Sheraton's signature bedding, and more. The renovation will also bring the Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft, a new Fitness Center and a fully expanded Club Lounge to our guests. Contact the Manager on Duty for questions, concerns or assistance during your stay.

Obviously, we'd (I'll) discuss just what that would mean come June with the group sales person. It doesn't sound like much heavy construction.

The second reason is it was built to serve an office complex and, obviously, business is baaaaaaaaaad right now. There are also residential buildings, however, so the area is not a ghost town at night. My Mother may be staying there next week so she can give us the lowdown.

Basically, the crap-ass economy could be a golden opportunity to have a NYC F2F.
