Shit's all sorts of different now.

And you would totally rock that dress. And it was SO COMFY. And had those neat bra strap holdy things in the straps of the dress.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Yes, the newlyweds were awful cute, but this has to be my favorite couple picture. [link] It was great to see Jon and FAQ wife. Also, adorable.

I am seriously blushing, Laura. You and Brendan are pretty darned cute yourselves.

So, my Pee-wee saga took an unexpected but wonderful turn. As I posted earlier, I left my tickets in Somerville, but after a surprisingly efficient call with Ticketmaster, they set me up with new tickets to be picked up at the Will Call window (those exorbitant service fees? My fault).

When we arrived at the theater, I asked a bouncer where the Will Call window was and he pointed me towards a makeshift desk with two people behind it. As I approached, I overheard the workers speaking to the few people in front of me. This was not for the Will-Calls, but was instead a place to get VIP wristbands for a Q&A with Paul Reubens after the show. I glanced down at the list of names in front of the workers and SAW MY NAME LISTED! OMGWTF!!!1!

I calmly gave them my name and asked if this was where I picked up my tickets. They pointed me towards the actual Will Call window, but told me to return with my tickets and they would then give me wristbands for the after-show event. And that's just what I did.

The show was great, and the Q&A, which lasted for well over an hour (nearly as long as the show itself) was fantastic. Reubens answered all the questions as himself, not as Pee-wee, and you really got a sense that he was being himself and not putting on an act. I wasn't as close to him as Scrappy said she was, but as there were only a couple hundred people in this "VIP" group, I was still pretty darned close.

But the question remained -- Why the hell was my name on the list? As best as I could tell, the after show Q&A was Reubens's way of making up for the fact that some people had been screwed over. Originally the show was supposed to take place late last year in a smaller venue. Shortly after tickets went on sale, it was moved to January to a bigger place. The thing was, some of the ticket buyers were from out of town and had already bought plane tickets, etc. If they wanted to see the show, they'd have to pay the airlines' rescheduling fees and possibly have other logistical hassles. In addition to this Q&A, they were also given first dibs on the new tickets when they went on sale. However, I was not one of those people! My only guess is that I "liked" or posted something on the Pee-wee Facebook fan page that got my name added.

The crazy thing is that had I not forgotten my tickets, I would not have needed to seek out the Will Call window and I'd have never known that I was on the VIP list. Sometimes, things just work out.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That's awesome, Jon! Sometimes things do work out.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I am so glad you got to go to the aftershow! He was amazingly open, I thought. It felt like a conversation rather than a presentation. There were crazy fans there and he managed to be kind to them while still not indulging their crazy, which I found admirable. Nobody asked about the arrest or anything, but he made a couple of references to it and was just a smart, interesting person.

Sounds like we had very similar experiences. He was especially kind to a couple of kids who were there. He let one 8 year old take his picture and spent a lot of time answering a 13 year old who asked if he had any advice for an aspiring filmmaker and actress. He asked her about the short film she said she'd made and then gave her what I thought was some real grown-up advice: 1) Don't get into it unless you have such a passion for it that you can't imagine doing anything else, and 2) You need to find a way to get satisfaction for what you do from within yourself. Applause isn't always going to be there, so the only way to be happy in this business is to satisfy yourself.

The status is NOT quo.

Jon, that's excellent!

Thanks, Toddson. It truly was an amazingly happy event, and I am (deeply, profoundly) happy to be married to Drew and to have been able to celebrate that with the people we love.
