Hell, I remember Nora scouted Salem, MA, and even outside of the big tourist season (aka October), the options were seriously limited/expensive.

It's also where buses to the Cape and the Islands change so I think there are probably decent bus options from NYC as well.

I know Amtrak goes through Providence on the Boston/New York run, so there's that too.

I wish there were Buffistas who lived in Charleston or Savannah, 'cause I would love to visit either of those.

Our wings are not tired.

Those would be neat locations, too. Although I know Charleston can be very, very humid in the Summer. But that's true for all of East Coast, yes?

I seriously considered doing a detour to Savannah on my road trip down to the Atlanta F2F, but it would have been trying to do too much in one trip. As it was, some of the trip got short shrift.

I was thinking the same thing about Miami.

Does the idea of a Jersey Shore F2F appeal to anyone? We could fill up a cheap motel and eat baskets of fried shrimp all weekend!

Reason #1 that moving back to the East Coast would be very hard after living in SF.

Me too. Or the Keys.

Even more appealing now that I've decided I need to visit more National Parks.

That's not a bad idea, either. I look at the F2F more as an opportunity to schmooze with folks than sight-see (although, that's fun, too), so a beach/pool vacation would be right up my alley. Plus, I'm willing to bet it would be easy to make a run at Atlantic City for those that want sparkly nightlife.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I could do that!

That would be a blast! My mom and I went to the shore just north of Atlantic City a few years back just for the day (she lives about 45 minutes west of AC) and had a great time. Lots of chintzy shops, great views, and we could totally fill up a cheap hotel for the weekend.
