Cincinnatistas! I am in your fair city May 3-6. One of my awesome kids is graduating from Wilberforce on Saturday the 5th so DH and I are attending to show him how proud we are of his accomplishment. He had options for his basketball scholarship and chose a very challenging software programming degree.

Wilberforce is about an hour north of the city, but finding flights was quite the adventure and ended up flying into Cincinnati.

First, we would love to see people! Second, any advice on hotels north of the city? I am having more trouble than usual it seems. I have already cancelled and rebooked flights and cancelled the first hotel choice. Next is the car rental, but if you have any suggestions on hotels, or getting together let me know!

Yay! For your hotel, how close to Wilberforce do you want to be?

If you want to be close(ish), look in Xenia (closest to Wilberforce), Beavercreek (a little further out), or the east side of Dayton, like the east side of the 675 loop.

It is only an hour to the school, so I think it makes more sense to be closer to the city. I was looking at Best Western Plus Hannaford Inn & Suites - 5900 East Galbraith Road, Cincinnati as an option along the 71 route.

That's a good location between Cincy and Wilberforce. It's about 2 minutes from my old office. Nice part of town.

So, the morning of May 5 is the Flying Pig 5K (that whole weekend is Flying Pig weekend), but other than the 5K, I'll be free.

Great, really only the graduation itself is booked time. I forget what time Max told me that was, but time to figure that out.

It looks like some better priced places along 42. There are Clarion and Comfort Inns in Sharonville which is along the route to the school.

Sharonville is a good spot, too.

I ended up selecting the Clarion to save a few bucks there. Airfare, hotel, and car total a cool $1000. At least the free breakfast reviews were good for the hotel. Have to get extra legroom on the flight and a full size car for the big guy.

If I had known what weekend graduation was we could have done the flying pig!! I doubt commencement is early morning. ETA: apparently commencement is at 9 AM! No Flying Pig for us.

The 5K and 10K are on Saturday the 5th, and registration is still open. IJS.

Yes, the 5th is when commencement is in the morning. Otherwise I would be at least cheering you on if not doing it myself. But I will be cheering for Max at that time.
