If Shir's plane to Seattle leaves right after 1, it is likely boarding around 12:35, 12:45 latest. And she will need to back through security and get back to her gate before that.

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
Ah, right. Good point.
Shir, SFO has free wifi. There are tech shops inside the terminal where you might be able to get a SIM card but I imagine they would be wildly overpriced.
The International Terminal is definitely better for food options at SFO. It is a short walk (or even shorter air train ride) from Terminal 3, which is next door. SFO is not that big so it's easy to get around.
However, it will be important to keep track of time as Terminal 3 means United and that usually means long security lines. My instinct is that time of day should be okay but one never knows with them.
The free wifi was the first thing I checked. I hope I'll be able to bring my laptop with me to the flight, but I won't know for sure until Thursday (pack day). Anyhow, with the lack of sleep I'm expecting I don't plan to make any decisions about SIM cards during the 30+ hours of travel; they can wait.
Long security lines = longer than 20-30 minutes wait for the check? I have no idea how long they normally take.
I'll get there earlier if I can, of course. I don't think I've actually driven to SFO from here before, I don't really know how long it takes so I'm adding some cushion to my estimate (I do know that Amtrak->BART takes longer so I'm not going to try to do that, and short-term parking prices actually look pretty reasonable). If anyone along the way would like me to pick them up, that's absolutely doable, btw.
Also, since you're flying on an Israeli passport, allow an extra few minutes for security. You'll probably get at least a cursory "Is everything OK with this person? Yeah, seems fine" extra check, but probably not anything more than that.
Epic, dammit, I'm going to make it work. Meet at the Getty at noon? Or did you say 1? Must scroll back. You have my cell, right? I don't know if I have yours. Let's email with plans.
Also, x-post from Beep Me:
Laistas! Shir is coming to town in a couple of weeks. She will be crashing at our place in Pasadena, and we'd like to host a cookout (veggie and meat options) on Saturday, 5/10, starting around 6pm. If you're interested, please chat details here in F2F. I'll also put together an evite with directions and such--if you could send me an email with your contact info (email and cell), that would be very helpful.
Epic, is your email addy good? I'll send you my phone. I don't think I can make it as I am swamped right now and just sort of in the land of not dealing very well. But I'd love to see you, and Pix, and the Getty.
Thank you, Pix! Other folks, I'm reminding that I'll be in Chicago, Seattle and New Orleans, and I am more than happy to meet and travel few hours to see you. That's the whole point of this trip.
Also, since you're flying on an Israeli passport
Other than leaving and entering Israel, I'll actually be traveling with my British passport. No idea how things are now, but in 2007 it got me a special invention on airport speakers and a few extra questions on each and every American and Canadian airport.
