Spike: At least give me Wesley's office since he's gone. Angel: He's not gone. He's on a leave of absence. Spike: Yeah, right. Boo-hoo. Thought he killed his bloody father. Try staking your mother when she's coming on to you! Harmony: Well…that explains a lot.

Huh. The poll on the MSNBC site has Obama beating McCain in the debate, 74.5% to 19.5%.

I like Obama and I thought he held his own nicely in what should have been his weaker debate area, but I didn't think he did that well.

not your mom's socks.

DH just made a good point - neither one of us quibble that McCains experience spans decades. Why were so many of his examples from the 80s?

And Obama showed more of a grasp on foreign policy than Bush. IMHO.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

CNN says Obama won big. An CBS scientific (phone) poll of undecideds had Obama winning 40 to 22.

“Not dead yet!”

I considered watching the debates but just couldn't handle it. Watched Across the Universe instead. Equally surreal but with much better music.

I think the Republican attempt to paint Obama as young and inexperienced may have set up some lowered expectations for him. The way the GOP was talking about Obama pre-Palin, you would think he couldn't talk about Russia because he wasn't in office during the cold war. Clearly that wasn't the case.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Okay, thank you Olbermann for pointing this out - McCain stating that he will make sure the US never tortures a prisoner again. The Pakistan was a failed state and we all know it thing - not to mention getting the President's name wrong - is probably worse, but much less likely to be picked up on.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Watched Across the Universe instead.

Nice. I wish my disc hadn't gone walk-about. Ended up watching the debate with half attention. I kept wanting Obama to hit back at the "judgement" accusations with "do you think choosing Palin showed good judgement?"

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Very happy to proven wrong. Maybe the sneering and contempt were over the top enough to turn people off? Anyway, if this holds up - great.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

My reading of the audience reaction is that they were most negative when McCain was talking about the things he'd done and the people he'd talked to way back when. Either they didn't appreciate the name-dropping, or Obama's made ground painting McCain as the past, not the future.
