Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

McCain is conceding in a way that is rather classy. But the booing of his supporters is irksome.

Exactly!

God, I used to really respect McCain even if I didn't agree with him.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

You guys, Ohio is so fucked up.

On my local news, Jerry Springer and Ken Blackwell (you know, the Secretary of State in 2004 who stole the election for Bush) are both delivering political commentary.

A little backstory: they both were mayors of Cincinnati (and then Springer was a news anchor for a long, LONG time), so their political commentary isn't out of place.

It's just weird, given their current life circumstances. t edit And Blackwell's total loathesome douchebaggery.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I know it's totally momentous that an African-American being voted president.

But I think it's equally momentous that we have voted an unabashedly intelligent, intellectual candidate. One who didn't grow up rich or in power. One who was sort of written off this time last year.

And I think the thing that makes it most amazing was how calm he has been, how drama free. And I LOVE the way he has energized folks. So cool.

Think about the popular vote result in context--the last time a non-incumbent president has won 55 percent was 1932.

A very good point. I'll look for the mandate in 2012.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

I was very impressed with McCain's concession speech. The boos are to be expected, I think. It would have been the same if it had gone the other way.

But yeah, gracious and classy speech.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

But I think it's equally momentous that we have voted an unabashedly intelligent, intellectual candidate. One who didn't grow up rich or in power. One who was sort of written off this time last year.

Yes! YES!

And fucking NYS is going to have marriage equality next year. Fucking A, man.

God, I used to really respect McCain even if I didn't agree with him.

I should add, it was the reactions of his supporters during the speech that I was dissing there.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

When my grandmother was born, women didn't have the vote. When my mother went to grade school, there was a white school and a black school. Now with both of them alive, and both of them voting for him, we have Barack Obama elected President of the United States. This is so incredible.
