I was very impressed with McCain's concession speech. The boos are to be expected, I think. It would have been the same if it had gone the other way.
But yeah, gracious and classy speech.

But I think it's equally momentous that we have voted an unabashedly intelligent, intellectual candidate. One who didn't grow up rich or in power. One who was sort of written off this time last year.
Yes! YES!
And fucking NYS is going to have marriage equality next year. Fucking A, man.
God, I used to really respect McCain even if I didn't agree with him.
I should add, it was the reactions of his supporters during the speech that I was dissing there.
When my grandmother was born, women didn't have the vote. When my mother went to grade school, there was a white school and a black school. Now with both of them alive, and both of them voting for him, we have Barack Obama elected President of the United States. This is so incredible.
I'm hanging on. I'm dying of exhaustion, but I'm going to watch the speech, dammit.
Barb is me. We're very pretty. And tired.
Palin's facial expressions scared me, though.
All her expressions said one thing to me: "2012, you betcha!"
I know it's totally momentous that an African-American being voted president.

Yes, exactly. I was watching BET for part of the time this evening and one of their commentators made the point that Obama represents a new ideal of black masculinity for young black boys and men to aspire to. Not an image of violence, or even rebellion, but intelligence and composure. I can't begin to imagine what a difference a role model like Obama could make.

One of my first thoughts was oh, god. SMART. Thank you.
Here he comes!!! WHEE!!!
Hello Mr. President!!!!
They're playing Jackie Wilson as they await Obama's arrival. Is he going to show up driving the Statue of Liberty?
