I've heard the same thing from my parents' canvassing in the Lehigh Valley -- it was pretty much a swing area until Palin came on to the ticket.
Now I totally want Palin to run for president in 2012!

I don't think you can underestimate the effect Palin had for Obama. McCain picking her really pushed some people to Obama.
Most of the small number of people that called into Dave Ramsey saying they voted for Obama cited Palin as a big reason.
