Loki hasn't mastered time either, so I predict an early wakeup (fall back to sleep.) I already changed my clocks because I needed the extra hour tonight.
Lovely day with lisah, Perkins and Sparky.
Also, breakthrough? Got Loki and Devi to sniff noses and Loki didn't go all scaredycat (I was holding him, but usually that doesn't help) and Dev just wandered off after sniffing him thoroughly. Hope?
Aimee, my condolences.
Oh, random math department story: Yesterday, the grad student seminar was about the mathematics of the election -- electoral college, various power indices, and so on. One of the grad students, L, had a lot of work to do and didn't want to go. She mentioned this to another grad student, T, in the morning, and he jokingly replied, "You're from China -- you shouldn't have to learn about our election. Just skip it." A few minutes before the seminar started, L passed by a professor who asked her if she was coming to the seminar. (The seminars aren't mandatory, but you're generally expected to go to as many as you can.) L replied, "I'm not going to learn about the election. I'm a Communist."
It's that rare with thoroughbreds? Is it more common with Arabians or some other breed?
It's not an especially common color in most light breeds. More common in heavy/draft breeds.
I would give a long explanation of Jockey Club: Why I Suspect CRACK, but that would be a waste of time, when I can sum it up as "even black hair sun fades, the JC has an overly literal interpretation of the text."
The French filly who won the Mile a few years back was registered as black. It's an oddity to see on the books. Sunday Silence, fr ex, was probably a true genetic black horse. But on the books, he's dark bay/brown.
It's a thing. The occasional paint TB is on the books as the base color. Marquetry and Time to Explode had sabino markings, but would show up as chestnuts.
I'm sorry for your loss, Aimee. Peace and strength to your family.
Tom, I hope your weekend gets better.
We had a rough day here, many many tears. Franny told me tonight that she "was sad all day." I'm declaring it a Halloween hangover.
It's a thing.
Clearly! Thanks for the explanation.
Was there ever a horse registered as: None More Black?
Handsome beastie - looks like an athlete.

$750 Stud Fee for this pretty boy.
Wow, Blue Roan's gorgeous
Plei - one of the horses featured in the book I was looking at was a filly with a bald face. (I cannot recall her name - but I don't believe that she made it to retirement.)
Happy (belated?) birthday, Ginger!
Tom, I know we don't really know each other, but if you still want someone to talk to I'm at the profile addy, and the chat options from there may vary. It's morning here and I'm very awake.
and lo- it is true that buffista sprog of the early morning clan Do Not Care what time it is. We've been up for an hour already. Only five more until we can take her to the please touch museum. More coffee is warranted, clearly.
Neither do cats care much about DST changes. Of course, they're always ready for food an hour before its due, so the fall back is especially trying for them.
Muppet was actually resorting to the Soft Paw To The Face maneuver this morning.
My cat resorted to laying on top of me and kneading my bladder!
