One of the german words I loved for a name beyond anything I can explain was Ihnen. Unfortunately, it means "them" which would be mean. But I love the sound of it (EEN-nehn.) There were a few other german and french ones I disremember.
Noah? Grubby? Unpossible.
I had a brief sadistic urge to name kids of mine names that mean the same thing as my name. Luckily moot.

That's a fascinating challenge, but I'm not sure how much of that I could stand to read. I think I like some of the comments better than the excerpts. He does seem to have a point about the vowels having different personalities.

Sometimes they kind of look dead. [ETA: the puppies] But real dogs are like that too when they're that kind of crashed out relaxed. Sometimes you have to poke them just to be sure.
(Oh god, I just remembered this. A few nights ago, Lucy was lying with her back leg (singular) tucked up underneath her so you couldn't see it and I totally kicked her to make her move because it freaked me out so much. I don't even feel bad about it.)
