That's disturbing. You're emotionally scarred and will end up badly.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry msbelle. I've been dreading the Daylight Savings switch all month. Isaac has *just* started sleeping in until 6:30.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I get that the changover thing can be a chore, but paragraphs like this:

It is one of many moments that used to be relaxing but become something else when seen through a parent’s lens. Long plane rides are no longer about a stack of good magazines. Long car rides are no longer about leaving the direct route and finding an off-beat place for lunch. Your spouse being off at a work dinner no longer means a chick flick for you, or a beer with friends.

make me think he thinks a lot of things about being a parent are a chore.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm not a parent, but I think the first and third things are just true. The middle point seems debatable to me.

hip deep in pie

I now own a big orange cat named Jake. Name change pending.

The people were very nice, and very sad to leave their cat. The wife had developed allergies and couldn't handle living with the cat anymore.

Yay, Sue! I'm glad the whole thing didn't end up as dramatic as it sounded like it could be...

Jesse'll tell you big orange boycats are great.

Well, three, sure. But there's no inherent reason that you couldn't read a pile of magazines on a flight just because you have kids. And the middle point is really what sets the whole tone of his point. But, then again, I have a pet peeve about people that seem to think that once you have kids you can't travel, or it becomes one long chore.

Marmalade kitteh!! They look so cool. Yay for ex-Jake and Sue!

I had to drag Amarna off of her perch to take her to the vet yesterday morning, and when I passed by her condo this morning to turn off the heater (too warm today!), she got skittish, obviously thinking I was going to try and do it again, jumped down and hid under the computer desk. She hates being stuffed into the carrier and taken anywhere, even just to the vet for a claw trimming.

many things about being a parent *are* a chore, then again so are many things about being an adult.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yay for big orange kitty Jake! But just think - if you keep the name Jake, you could make him wear tiny sunglasses and take pictures....
