Well, then, this is a day I'll feel good to be me.

“Not dead yet!”

Food note: leftover chili with spicy white queso makes a pretty happenin' burrito.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Me too. But I think I'm right, because you can have fancy meatballs but they'd never be airy.

I don't think you can have fancy meatballs.

I suppose you could construct them of something fancy, but, say, a fois gras meatball is really just fois gras in a weird shape and some sauce.

“Not dead yet!”

It makes me mournful that Matilda seems to enjoy all this and I can't share in her delight even a little tiny bit.

Kind of how I feel about video/console/personal player games. But at least the kids have something they share exclusively with their Dad. With me, they have music since Lewis lives under a rock where current music is concerned.

It all balances out.

yeah, none of those New Yorker cartoons were funny. I got them all except the yoga one which still doesn't make any sense knowing the answer.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

From the Poe's Law wikipedia entry, for some reason the following makes me laugh:

The law also works in reverse: real fundamentalism can also be indistinguishable from parody fundamentalism. For example, some conservatives consider noted homophobe Fred Phelps to be so over-the-top that they think he's a "deep cover liberal" trying to discredit more mainstream homophobes.

“When you take a lurch to the left you end up in a totalitarian dictatorship,” King said. “There is no freedom to the left. It’s always to our side of the aisle.”

Don't dismiss him entirely, look at Canada, do they really have elections? You never hear about any in the news here.

I've come to realize that it is the most blah blah Ginger blah blah game ever to my brain.

But there is a quarterback ducking under a tackle attempt and completing a perfect deep over the shoulder pass to a double covered receiver. The perfectly executed blocking that busts a simple screen for a sixty yard run. A corner blitz that takes down the quarterback 10 yards back putting the offense out of field goal range. Ah well, acquired taste.

I also like video games cause you get to kill monsters and blow things up. Not a lot of sophistication there.

Last night I took the kids to the school's fall festival and on the way back they started talking about crushes. Leif told his sister and me that "Girls are really attracted to me. I think it is because they are a lovey dovey breed."

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Oh, Gud, reading that makes me feel all kinds of lovey dovey, so I think he's right.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm not a huge fan of football, but I'll watch sometimes. Also, I'm the ultimate fair-weather fan - I watched the Packers a lot that season they won the Superbowl, and I'll watch the Bears when they're doing good.

I remember one game early on in that Packer Superbowl season, when Favre threw a very long pass to a receiver who was covered pretty well, and the ball ended up exactly where it had to be for the guy to catch it. Like it ended up in the foot-square area where it had to be... Amazing. (That was early in the season, when the Packers were kicking ass over everyone they played.)

Also, I miss the Bulls back when they were winning NBA championships. I don't think I've watched an NBA game on TV since....
