'Bring On The Night'
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

The person who is pregnant should be able to decide whether they want to continue the pregnancy. Ideally they could turn to their parents for support, but there's really no guarantee that they'll find support there.
There is also no guarantee that they won't find support. There are very many times when teens are convinced that their parents will not be supportive, and then are shocked and relieved to find that their parents are understanding. Not just talking about pregnancy here. I appreciate the point that the proposition is being presented for all the wrong reasons, and is indeed a means to chop away at rights. But I feel there does need to be some means of better support for girls facing this decision. If my non-existent daughter was pregnant and was considering abortion and felt she could not talk to her parents I would hope there was someone that would talk to her. Abortion is still a serious medical procedure that carries a number of risks. It bothers me to think of young girls making this decision without the benefit of competent caring adult counsel.
OMG. Buffista kids are just cracking my shit up! This is better than the jokes in Reader's Digest.
Seriously.
I just tried to get her to say "Barack Obama," and she said sternly, "No Bocka Mama!" and then cracked up. Then, oh so pleased with herself, she added, "No Fuckorama!"
Oh! Um, I hope she doesn't say it on TV next week when you take her with you to vote?
(DH and Dylan were on our local news channel when they went to vote in the primaries, so I'm trying to teach him to say "Obama" in response to "Who is Daddy voting for?" in case it happens again. Currently it's coming out more "oomama" but at least it doesn't sound like anything anyone could mistake for "McCain.")
Currently it's coming out more "oomama"
I would totally vote for Uma Thurman too! Dylan is smartiepants.
FUCKING SNOW IN MARYLAND NO.
NO NO NO
in point of fact.
These kids today! So funny!
Has everyone seen The Hush Sounds song We Believe in Barack Obama
It has the lyrics "he loves you and he loves your mama" which makes me giggle!
The downside of early voting is not getting to go next week with the crowd of neighbors. It is becoming quite the battle of signs around here. This is quite shocking since there was nothing but Bush signs in my area the last couple rounds. Way more Obama signs now than McCain.
One of my customers was just telling me that he voted Republican all his life but was so upset about the Bush debacles that he didn't know what to do this year. The Powell endorsement put him over the edge and now he is voting Obama.
I now find myself wondering how other Western countries deal with the informed consent issue.
Western Australia requires that a custodial parent be informed in the case of minors (under 16s). Said minor can apply to the Children's Court to waive this. I don't think there's specific provision in any other state. In Queensland just last month, a 12-year old wanted an abortion, her parents both consented, but it was decided that they still needed a court order to determine its lawfulness; the judge consented. (In Qld and NSW, abortion is covered by criminal law, as it was in Vic until just recently. In the other states, it's under the health law.)
