Prop 8 is a ban on "gay marriage". A vote against is a vote for marriage equality.
Right, Missouri's ban passed with 70%. I'm surprised the 'Yes' vote is behind in the polls. Things are not so progressive around here, I figured CA would be more progressive but I didn't think it would be that much.
Just came to post that Dana - I took the weekend mostly off politics, but this week I think I will be mainlining.
Hey, California is home of the Liberal Elite - Left Coast Division. Also, home of San Francisco Values. And dope-smoking hippies.
I'm a big ol' skipper but I'm guessing based on the congrats that bonbon and BobBob's wedding went off without a hitch? CONGRATULATIONS BonBob!
Wow, I guess I'm biased by my region and expected it to pass easily.
I think it probably would have before marriage was made legal for everyone here, but now it's a matter of actually taking away someone's established legal right to marriage. I suspect that's swaying some people to vote against Prop 8 even if they aren't that supportive of gay marriage.
PSA: Dinner time at the puppy cam!
I just finally read through all 12 state propositions. The only ones where I'm sure of my vote are #1 (high-speed rail) and #8.
I'm scared to read the 22 propositions relating to San Francisco alone.
How does California work election-wise? Being a blue state, I'm guessing the urban cores, especially LA, must dominate the vote.
In Missouri, there are two urban cores that almost exactly match everywhere else, hence being a swing state. Elections are sort of fun to watch because outstate results come in early so the election results can change dramatically as the evening goes on. To do 70%, that means outstate must have been above 90%. I live in an outstate area, so my political perspective is sort of warped.
The only ones where I'm sure of my vote are #1 (high-speed rail) and #8.
I'm voting for the proposition on the humane treatment of animals pre-food.
"You'll live a happy and carefree life, and then we'll cut your head off and eat you. But we won't cut your beak off and stick you in a tiny cage for the whole of your miserable existence."
I'd urge a yes on Prop 2. Don't know what all the others are.
