Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did you know there's a city in Japan named Obama?

I like those Danskos, too! Hmmmmm. Maybe I do need new black shoes this winter?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm wearing these right now and I love them. I normally can't walk in heels at all because of my shitty knees and ankles, but these are even more comfortable than my Merrells.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

as a follow-up to tommyrot's link, all I can say is, huh?

And as a follow-up to Kathy A's story, I was in the bookstore the other day and a young couple was in line behind me with their daughter, perhaps two. Her father was holding her and he pointed to a book with Obama on the cover and said "who's that?". The little girl looked hard for a minute and then said "Obama!", very proud of recognizing him.

“Not dead yet!”

All right, wish me luck-- off to pick up Abby's cake and various and sundry for her school festivities tomorrow. I haven't driven since I hurt my ankle, so this ought to be interesting.

And lovely-- it's raining.

I love my daughter... I love my daughter... I love my daughter...

Good lord:

Jörg Haider, the leader of Austria's far-right Alliance for Austria's Future party, died this month in a high-speed car crash. He was drunk. Why was he drunk? Because, of course, he'd just had a terrible fight with his gay lover, who was also his 27-year-old protege and party deputy. After the fight, Haider went to a gay club and drank heavily with male escorts. Did we mention he was the leader of the far-right party? The one that's anti-immigrant and anti-European Union and pro-traditional family values? And that Haider was married with children?

Since D's going to go with E to vote (on their way into daycare & work respectively), I've been trying to teach him to say "Obama" in response to "Who's Daddy voting for?" just in case they get on local TV like they did for the primaries.
