I think there is something to the "Real America" thing. I believe the Republicans are playing on a sense that Obama represents the urban, multicultural (McCain is now even attacking feminists) America that probably represents the future and is threatening to some people. A message of, hey, vote for us and we'll keep America from changing is probably pretty comforting even if it is unrealistic. I think that is where all this anger is coming from. My daughter told me this morning that the kids at school were saying that Obama's family are all terrorists.
Then there are the poor forgotten smaller government Republicans who wonder what the heck happened to their party. I kinda feel bad for those guys.
Last night's Daily Show just nailed this whole "Real America" thing.
The Jason Jones story was pretty brilliant as well.
Perkins, thanks for coming in the nick of time to spare my eyes! I watch after school.
I was going to post that it looked like I killed the thread, but I forgot that Emily posted after me. So I guess it's her fault.
Remember my post (from an hour and a half ago) about Hayes saying Liberals hate real Americans? He now denies saying it. But there's audio of him saying it.
More Hayes wackiness:
In 2006, Hayes said, “Stability in Iraq ultimately depends on spreading the message of Jesus Christ, the message of peace on earth, good will towards men.” As recently as 2005, he was still insisting that there was a link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.
Rep. Hayes Lies: I Never Said ‘Liberals Hate Real Americans’

Michele Bachmann Says She ‘Never Questioned Barack Obama’s Patriotism’
I already knew that zip - I have a file on your future house, you know.
ha! It's taken me forever to catch up because I saw sarameg's first post about the drama and started looking at listings!

for example.
Wow, it's deadsville around here.
To liven up natter I offer the uncontroversial proof that Dita Von Teese is good for America.
Some of the people that I work for are poopyheads. I'm just saying.
Yeah, why wasn't that brought up at last week's Liberal East Coast Elite cabal meeting??
Dammit, I didn't even know about the meeting! This is the real problem with a liberal cabal -- too many meetings.
I thought they were called "salons"?
