You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

"Faith in God in general has been mocked through this campaign, and that breaks my heart and that is unfair for others who share a faith in God and choose to worship our Lord in whatever private manner that they deem fit," she said.

And another strawman hits the dust. I wish she had been pressed for examples.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

We could supply 10% of this country's electrical energy needs if we could only burn all the McCain/Palin strawmen for fuel....

They're already contributing enough to global warming with hot air.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Shakespeare set part of Winter's Tale on the seacoast of Bohemia. Which is a lovely area, right next to the Florida desert....

Actually, it's closer to the desert of Louisiana (as presented at the end of Manon).

Random question that I'd ask in the music thread except I never go there so I don't want to interrupt and skip to the end:

Anyone know any (preferably good) songs that mention Columbus? That is, Columbus Ohio, not Columbus the explorer. I usually make a mix every year after going to the conference I just attended, and try to put a song in that has to do with the city it was held in...this year it was Columbus.

I missed the Africa cities discussion - I would have guessed Addis.

That's all I have for 100+ posts.

I am losing my voice, like I have almost every fall since college. I didn't lose it last year though, and because of that mac does not believe me that it is not a big deal. I am trying not to speak much, but when I do he gets all concerned.

he has a belt test for karate tomorrow night and I do not think he is prepared. At some point this evening I have to make him turn off the PS2 and practice until he can do these 20 steps cold.

“Not dead yet!”

I can't think of any songs that mention Columbus off the top of my head, meara, but whenever I hear "Hang On, Sloopy" I think of Columbus, because it brings to mind Ohio State, because it's a song that their band plays, which is probably really way too random and I'll shut up now and go back to watching 80s vids.

ok that Palin article, I think Dana linked to - ?!?!?!?!? Federal BAN on gay marriage, but states should be the ones to decide about abortion - and isn't like every other line of hers about government getting out of our lives? between that and calling Obama a socialist, but saying the bailout ISN'T socialist - there's a fairly large consistency problem, right?
