Home of Ralph the Swimming Pig to be bulldozed

San Marcos, Texas' Aquarena Center, formerly a hilarious tourist trap called Aquarena Springs, will be bulldozed, with the land being restored to turn-of-the-previous-century condition.

Aquarena was the home of the infamous Ralph the Swimming Pig, and his keeper Glurpo, a one-time "nightmarish aquatic clown" (http://www.boingboing.net/2005/01/20/nightmarish-aquatic-.html) turned "underwater witch doctor." There were also "aquamaids" who picnicked & performed ballet underwater, diving ducks, and a sadistic swan named Rufus.

I have a friend who didn't know his actual name until he started kindergarten. The teacher called attendance and he started looking around for his Dad. (He was a junior with a pervasive nickname)

I think this is the standard we should try and set with Joeytea.

Nearly canceled my hair appointment this morning because I was still sore and grumpy after yesterday's near-miss car accident. Now I'm glad I didn't. I have A Plan for my hair (mostly growing it out over the winter). But in the meantime, ends have been leveled, new bangs have been cut, color has been refreshed, and I feel vaguely human again.

Heck, I'm only 30 minutes from San Marcos, and I've never heard of it.

I'm sure someone posted this already, but it's sort of amazing to me how easily the candidates (esp. McCain) can treat the campaign rhetoric as fodder for cheap jokes. On one hand, good for them for being adults, but on the other, man, the contempt they (and esp. McCain) have to feel for the general American public to buy that crap.
