Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Ooh! Emily! My Uncle Carl could come to some sort of Q&A with your class. It would rock. He's a neat combination of "policy wonk" and "Tony Soprano accent".

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Anybody have some juicy untrue rumors about McCain?

McCain is the bastard love child of a Terminator and a Cylon, one of whom is black! His best friend is a vampire terrorist ACORN volunteer.

OK, that's not entirely false - McCain has hung out with ACORN people....

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Anybody have some juicy untrue rumors about McCain?

During the 2000 Primaries, the Bush campaign spread rumors that McCain's adopted (black) daughter was actually his illegitimate child, and that he was brainwashed by his Vietnamese captors to be some sort of Manchurian Candidate.

McCain went on to hire some of those very people responsible for the rumors for his own campaign this year.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

McCain went on to hire some of those very people responsible for the rumors for his own campaign this year.

And, remarkably, they seem to have done more damage to him this time around than they did when they were working against him.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

There's also that dumb rumor that McCain was responsible for the fire on the Forrestal. I googled on that a while ago, and all matches cited a single account without saying where that account came from. Then one google match I was reading kept on using the phrase "Jew media" so at that point I stopped my search....

“Not dead yet!”

Did y'all see where his own brother blasted the campaign for utterly screwing things up?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I don't get why these people see such a distinction between McCain and the campaign - or, rather, why they think that doesn't look just as bad:

"He's running a crappy campaign and screwing it all up!"

"They're running a crappy campaign and screwing it all up and he's powerless to stop them!"

Oh yes, much more presidential.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

And, y'know, I don't have any problem with the decent reasons. Not enough experience? Okay! That's a reason! I can respect it! But I just get so mad when the reasons are madeup stupid shit. Oh, and repeating the GOP party line on "community organizers". You're welcome to not consider it relevant experience, if you like, but the crap about "they don't REALLY do anything" is... ARRRRRGH!

It wouldn't bug me so much except that I generally respect these kids' intellegence. Don't know why they turned off their crap filter today.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Okay - guffawed out loud in my office. Thanks, amy. I needed that.
