Shit's all sorts of different now.

It was a really good muffin, which I baked and would have sacrificed for the cause of dinging stupidity.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I saw a "Domecrat for McCain" bumper sticker ona car today.

Domecrat? Like Teapot Dome? That's pretty fitting, actually.

ETA because I suspect not everybody geeks out on presidential history the way I do: [link]

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I was so aggravated, my fingers couldn't work.

Yeah....that's the ticket.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We, as American individuals, are NOT guaranteed the right to vote in a Presidential election. Stop saying we do and actually READ the freaking document you want to swear to uphold. If it's not too much trouble.

Seriously.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Emily, do they trust Snopes more than Factcheck

I don't know for sure, but it's an excellent idea. Of course, the same student was telling me about a debate they had about gay marriage -- he says, "It's fine if they want to buy houses and stuff, I don't have any trouble with that." Gee. How generous of you. Argh!

Gudanov -- I know! The which point I made, indeed -- and if he were a Muslim, why would that be a problem? But, well... eh. Rumors are always more FUN, aren't they? And maybe they're not old enough to have learned that more fun news usually isn't more true news. If only we could get the adults to learn that...

Seriously, folks, vote against him if you like! But have a real reason. Don't just make shit up!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

But more to the point, because of Rev. Wright it is well established he's been going to the same Christian church for 20 years. Do they think he has devoted his adult life, even before his political career, to maintaining a ruse about his religion.

As my Uncle Carl so famously said to my Cousin, "So is he a Muslim or is he devoted to this radical Reverend? It has to be one or the other. These are fundimentally fucking mutually exclusive conditions, John!"

He then spent the next month saying "My nephew is a boor". Good times, good times...

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Seriously.

Ya know?

Now, granted - I didn't know that until t looks at calendar last Monday, but I'm not running for PRESIDENT! And I'm pissed as hell I didn't know it all this time. So, I'm not some huge know-it-all, but Goddamn I expect a dude who wants to run the country to freaking know what the fuck he is talking about.

Then again, my standards have always been pretty high.

@@@@@@@@@@ times infinity.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I did my 8th grade history research paper on the Teapot Dome scandal! Oh, Albert Fall, you rascal!

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Of course, we've all been reminded that "if a discussion comes up in your class about the Presidential candidates or other elections, that you provide equal opportunity for discussion on both or all candidates." Be happy to! Anybody have some juicy untrue rumors about McCain?

BAD Emily, BAD elitist Democrat. I know thoughtful, intelligent Republicans who have no interest in seedy rumors. And I'm sure I know Democrats who believe scurrilous lies about Republicans because they "sound" true.

Ooh! Emily! My Uncle Carl could come to some sort of Q&A with your class. It would rock. He's a neat combination of "policy wonk" and "Tony Soprano accent".
