Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hilarious Go Fug Yourself post about Twilight: [link]

I really feel like I've done enough work today. AND I got credit for an idea that could be really good. Can I go home now?

The status is NOT quo.

I'm so far behind in this thread. Wow. Congrats to Jilli and Allyson for artwork and nearly being really and truly done! Yay Loki! That's all I've got.

I'm enjoying my day off tremendously (yay Jewish holidays!). I dropped my dog off to be groomed, made a couple of business calls I never have time to do during a school day, ate a lovely lunch out at a local cafe, and now am on my way over to the hospital to pick up copies of the tests they ran in the ER when I was there at the end of August. I have an appointment with a new ob/gyn today to follow up on those tests, and I suspect my enjoyable day may suffer a bit of a setback at that time. Feh.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I just saved our department like $400 and not one cent of it is being given to me. Where's the justice in THAT?!? 10% maybe, c'mon.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I just checked the Dow again, and... Holy shit! It's now down 552 (almost 6%) to 8705.

(I swear, the stock-tracking thing on my iPod is my favorite part.)

Coding and Sleeping

I think you must have a delay, it's down about 640 now.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm enjoying my day off tremendously (yay Jewish holidays!).

I really wish we got the day off for Jewish holidays. I've been going crazy this past week with getting people to cover for classes I'm supposed to teach and rearranging a bunch of meetings and stuff.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Todd, I think when they took out her girl-parts it made her a Tom Boy. Or since she's a cat a Tomcat Girl. Or possibly some sort of Kitty Sufferagette. Or a lesbian -- did she get a tragic haircut? One if five lesbians do.

There is a pussy joke here somewhere...

Lesbians with Tragic hair story:

I grew up in a small church in a small town. Two kids I grew up with (we'll call them Joe and Dee) got married and had two little girls and then Dee (who had never gotten rid of her mullett) realized she was Lesbian. So she and Joe divorced.

But they still went to the same church. And both sets of parents still went to the same church. It was very convenient for handing the girls off -- they'd come to church each week with one parent and leave with the other. And Joe and his parents and Dee and her parents and the two little girls would all sit within a pew or two of each other (its just not that big a place). Eventually Joe brought his new girlfriend to church and Dee brought her new girlfriend to church.

The only thing I ever heard spoke about in hushed scandalized tones was that Dee's new gf had the same horrible mullet that Dee did.

I come from a pretty great little town and a pretty great little church. And part of me thinks that maybe Dee was just seeking mullet acceptance. Because in a town that judgmental about hair you do what you gotta do.

“Not dead yet!”

Hilarious Go Fug Yourself post about Twilight: [link]

It's genuinely amazing to me how they manage to take pretty like Robert Pattinson's and make it so genuinely hideous. I'm starting to suspect that the movie's PR department is sitting in a small back room somewhere plotting how far they can push the fan girls. "Yes, yes... it's horrible! Do you think they'll finally admit that it's horrible or will they swoon and squee and declare that it's bee-yoo-ti-ful?"

Yeah, the stock quotes are delayed 20 minutes. Which normally doesn't matter too much, except for when the market is in freefall....
