We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I've got generic enough coloring (brown hair rapidly greying, hazel eyes) that I don't get too many guesses as to my ancestry, but when I mention half-Irish, there's not too many surprised looks (fair skin will do that). The quarter Swedish will throw some people off, especially when I mention that Grandpa, who was born in Sweden, had dark hair. Being from near the Arctic Circle explains that anomoly, though--not too many blonds that far north.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

If the president of that chapter is endorsing McCain-Palin, but not the chapter itself, she can do whatever she wants. If she is saying that the chapter is endorsing the ticket, that is a different matter.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

but I have no idea what EM looks like.

Here she is with 2nd grade Emmett - not a great angle on her face but you get the idea. (Look how wee he is!)

Here she is with baby Matilda

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

NOW as a group endorses Obama and have a great article on their main site about how not all women support women's rights, citing Palin as their main example. If Mandell is endorsing Palin on her own, she shouldn't be using NOW as her gateway to become Palin's introducing speaker. Palin's snide misquote of Albright in that article makes me extremely angry. Yes, there will be angry emails in my future.

Yeah, but in admitting that she got it off a Starbucks cup, we now know what she reads.

The LA NOW chapter needs a leadership overthrow.

These statements are completely compatible. If the local NOW President endorses an anti-choice, weak on contraception candidate who is not even supportive of rape victims, and who supports gender discrimination in the workplace, that is a good reason for membership to throw her out of a leadership position. She supports a woman who opposes every core NOW policy against a candidate who supports every core NOW policy (albeit some of them in a half-assed way).

See what I'm saying?

You stand him next to me and he looks like me. You stand him next to his mom and he looks like her. You put him between us and it's like one of those optical illusion cards.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

There's an enormous banner here in Cincy on the side of one of the buildings downtown, of Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo. The way the picture is taken, with his sandy long-hair sticking out from under his hat, and the way the hat is shading part of his face, and his little almost-smile, that reminds me so much of Emmett, both physically and in terms of attitude, that it spooks me every time I drive by it.

Although I see that Emmett has given up his long hair for now.
