Tried three car rental places. All closed. The mechanic was closing up shopfor the day but he took me to a hotel.
I got a room and DH will come down & get me tomorrow. We'll get an stimate on the truck on Monday and go from there.
This has been sort of an adventure.
Good Christ, Cash.
Finding weekend car rentals is brutal if you're not at the airport.
I tried a number of scenarios in my head--getting a cab to Midway for a rental car or trying to catch the train out of town to Portage, WI where DH could pick me up. But it's still an hour away from home and I don't know train schedules.
Seemed easier to sleep on it. Took a bath and I'm going to grab some dinner and watch tv here in Alsip.

I think you deserve some sleep, Cashmere.
I second what Dana said and the "bath, dinner, tv plan"
God, Cashmere. I'm glad that you can keep your head in this, and maybe even try to look on the bright side of this. I'm also glad you peed outside.
As a woman who likes to hike, I can understand.
(I stopped myself twice while writing this. I mean, am I really gonna tell strangers on the internet I'm glad they peed outside? But hey, Buffistas. Apparently I will say so).
Wait, you're in Chicago?
Shir, if you can say it to anyone, you can say it to buffistas!
You guys kept me from being bored. I think my non-stress attitude helped with the tow driver and mechanic. They are probably used to folks taking out frustrations on them. I think the AAA operator even thanked me for being calm.
I also got to talk to the kids on the phone which made me smile.
