I see lots of McCain/Palin bumper stickers as well as Nobama bumper stickers. But this is in Kansas.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I just slammed Orson Scott Card, taught my students the word schadenfreude, led two successfulish whole class discussions where they made sense of the Aristotle stuff WITHOUT ME and got a kid to register to vote.

It's been a good morning. Fever and all.

Lunch? Turkey sandwich with nacho cheese spread (no really) and an iced tea. I'm living grand, aren't I?

Specializing in wine law? That is wicked cool.

My mom had her breast cancer found on her first mammogram when she was 40. DOOOO IT.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

My mom had hers found when she was 62. She's a healthy 80 now. Doooo eeeet.

Specializing in wine law?

My friend P's fiancee (whom he met in law school) is counsel for a consortium of vineyards in Napa. Then again, before she want to law school she held some sort of highish sort of job for Gallo. It's a good gig if you like your vino.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

David - your office has a wine cellar?

We have one here. No cage with a lock though.

I have been too busy to keep up here, how is everybody?

Get the damn mammogram!

Mine was discovered with a mammogram, and there never was a palpable lump, since I had a less common type that's sort of fibrous. Don't neglect breast self-exams at any age, because young women do get breast cancer. The type of cancer that shows up in young women is usually more aggressive, plus, since both young women and their doctors assume that they're too young to have breast cancer, the cancer is usually discovered when it's more advanced.

Also, try to avoid the deluge of pink products in October unless the company clearly states how much of the profits will go to breast cancer research. See Can Shopping Cure Breast Cancer?"

Perhaps I should expand this rant in LJ.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My doctor referred me to a mammogram place in a few months. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I agree it needs doing.

Lunch: homemade meatballs with marinara sauce.
