Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Fantastic set, Shir. Your Grandmother had an amazing look as a young thing.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I started collecting pictures for this after understanding I have no idea what's going on in most of the pictures, and before most of my relatives in my grandparents' ages will pass away (my grandmother in the pictures died in 72'; my grandfather in 57', age 34; Mordechai sometime in the late 70s', I think. They all died young).

I'm looking for a certain picture now: it's my grandmother's family on the Vistula river's bank in Kraków, summer of 1939. I'm hoping to find it. It's so moving to be able to relate to those pictures, not to mention learning their historic value.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow, your grandmother is gorgeous, too.

I am so not in the mood today, I can't even tell you.

What a place to be in 1939, with the German invasion about to happen in September.

I'll be in Krakow next week, and thinking of your family Shir.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's a grand gift to your descendents to be able to properly identify pictures and who was in them. Which reminds me that I have a boatload of old snapshots that I'd better sit my aunt and Mom down and make them identify... soon.

Shir, your grandmother has amazing eyes (and I love the pictures).

We're on day 3 of fever. Time to call the doctor?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Both your grandparents are very striking, Shir!

The picture of your grandmother probably in Greece is definitely Greece, almost definitely in front of the Acropolis in Athens. Which I'm pretty sure of because somewhere I have a picture of myself a little over 20 years ago standing in what looks like exactly the same spot. I recognized it instantly. Your grandmother looks much more glamourous than I did, though.

Yeah, that doesn't sound good! Although if it's a virus, all they are going to say is wait it out, anyway. Any signs of anything bacterial?

My only symptom is fever. So, not really.

Ha! As a wedding gift for my brother, I took a ton of old family photos from my mom's side and my dad's side and scanned them and made a photo book for him.

Come to find out, a couple of years after the fact, that one of the old pictures my dad gave me, of 2 older gentlemen, is probably NOT family; Dad's comment was "I have NO idea who they are -- I don't think they're part of the family! Maybe they were friends of your grandfather's."

So my brother's "family" photo book has 2 strangers in it. That made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
