Damn you, Bridget! Damn you to Hades! You broke my heart in a million pieces! You made me love you, and then you-- I SHAVED MY BEARD FOR YOU, DEVIL WOMAN!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

My mother will occasionally say things like, "I met this nice priest/political scientist/musician/grad student and I told him about you. He's your age!" She lives in another state. I don't think there IS a far enough away.

Ha!

So, I get to work for five hours today. Normally I'd be excited, but I'm worried. I've had a rough week with one of my kiddos, and if she's here today, it could be a VERY LONG five hours. Yesterday she had a full-out tantrum when I put her in time out. Then, when I wouldn't let her eat the rest of her snack during her time out the tantrum became aggressive: "I'll eat Miss Val!" (as she tried to bite me) and "I'm going to hit Miss Val and everyone!" (as her arms flailed).

Now tagless for your comfort.

question for the group. Has anyone ever been a poll worker?

I have. I was one year after college in an off-year election. Me and several elderly folks in my very tiny town sat around in the Lion's Club building eating home baked goodies and handing out ballots.

It was an unremarkable experience pre-Karl Rove.

Punishingly Intricate

I worked the polls in Greensboro in the '96 election it was funboring! We had to work 8 hour shifts I think. But it paid and I was a grad student so yay for fairly easy money.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

That's right, it did pay. I forgot all about that. Another nice side benefit was being able to vote without having to stand in the looooong line outside when I showed up for my shift.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Happy birthday a day late, Omnis!

I just can't help to think from time to time she just wished to see me with someone. Male, female, doesn't even matter to her at that point*.

Heh, if you did pair off with a female, why then her potential grandchildren could have TWO Jewish mothers - what's not to love!

Yesterday she had a full-out tantrum when I put her in time out.

From the sound of it, I'd guess there is a 98% chance she has learned that escalating the tantrum gets her what she wants, and a 2% chance that the main problem is in her neurotransmitter balance. This is not counting the possible diagnosed neurotransmitter imbalance that might be the excuse that her parents use to get them out of the responsibility of handling tantrums without giving in.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Um. I wonder how many kids they had? Either way. HILARIOUS!

I don't remember if it was four or five. But not none.

Billytea, your Mother should have suggested they try it the other way.
