Sometimes I miss having powers... Oh. Oh! I know what this is! This is peer pressure! Any second now you're gonna make me smoke tobacco and--and have drugs!

Spike's Bitches 42: Which question do you want me to answer first?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Thrive to spite them

OH Daniel ! Lots of vibes and healing ma going your way.

I have set up an appointment for a new therapist for Oct 14. This is two days before My Internet Boyfriend (for lack of a better term) is coming to visit that may be interesting.

But anyway we'll see, the doctor seemed very nice on the phone.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Want to feel better about your housekeeping abilities?
OMG! I dunno what else to say. I thought my mother's apartment is bad.. well, it is, but not THAT bad. She hoards flyers, mail, and papers. But how many drink cups can you balance on a chair? And the ciggies. I couldn't figure out what the bags in the bathroom were until I read the comments. Eeew! Those poor cats. I hope they got away. I have to say, the ironing board free and clear (mostly) did crack me up.

ION, I had a talk with employee (after he left for dinner break without asking!!), and put it gently but sternly of "why do you disrespect me, the theater, your job..." kind of thing. He didn't quite realize it as disrespect, and was very apologetic, and promised to be better. Last year, the boss died at the beginning of the season, so he was an intern with no supervisor. He says he is still not used to the whole "team" thing. We shall see. Is there some kind of Time Management program? Not quite 12-step or Weight Watchers, but, you know, something that I can say "you've identified this as a problem, how about this to help you learn to make it right". Not sure if such a thing exists. Is it a you either have it or you don't kind of thing? (and why do I always want to put an "h" in the middle of "exists"??? Crazy brain).

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Is there some kind of Time Management program?

There are a ton of time management seminars out there. In a city of the size of Dallas, you could probably find one easily.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Omnis I think it might be inborn. I had a friend who eventually got fired for tardiness and her boss tried so hard to help her. She was supposed to be in at 9 but she came in close to 10 almost every day so eventually, to keep from having to fire her, they shifted her start time to 10... and she started coming in at 11. I think for some people tardiness is impossible to overcome.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Tons of 'em. Books, websites, life coaches, therapy methodologies -- a whole range of possibilities from do-it-yourself on up. For this guy, from the sounds of things, I'd probably suggest starting with the book ADD-Friendly Ways To Organize Your Life -- with the disclaimer that you don't have to be ADD to benefit, and that I'm not trying to diagnose anyone, but it's got a lot of quick and digestible tips without getting into a big you-must-be-a-productivity-ninja thing. And with the caveat that it's an ongoing process; not just buy a book and you're done, but work on a few habits at a time, see if the approach works better, rejigger what isn't working, work on self awareness, and then start again tomorrow...

Also, it's something I've seen a lot of with people that age. They may be smart and skilled, but learning that, hey, dumbass, actually showing up and doing what you said you'd do is the MOST IMPORTANT THING is something that a lot of post-college-age kids don't really seem to get until they've gotten spanked by it a few times. I've come around to thinking that one of the big goals with student workers and interns is teaching them how to have a job.

(And it's definitely not something people are either born with or hopeless at -- even if some learn it more easily than others.)

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Ok, so there is wi-fi in the hospital. The morphine seems to be helping take the edge off the pain. Daniel appreciates all your good wishes, and so do I.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I struggle with this all the time, especially when I'm grappling with depression. But that's also a factor of having some flexibility with work - when I had jobs where it was more rigid, it was still a scramble, but I didn't let the time slip nearly as badly.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

J is out of surgery! Everything went perfectly, and hopefully he won't need another one until he needs his pacemaker moved in about 6 years. I can breathe again.
