But then I think, if you know the library is going to create a situation where the avoidy thing is going to be exacerbated, then -- why not avoid the library?

(I also recall in my more poverty stricken days having this idea that until the book was returned, they didn't total up the late fees and hence they...weren't real, or something? Or at least wouldn't be coming after you for them? I don't know. It was craxy, whatever it was.)

But you don't know what's going to turn into an avoidance situation, that's the thing. I mean, it's not *about* the library at all. It could be work, or school, or the grocery store, or anything that's suddenly just hugely overwhelmingly impossible to face.

Why, yes, avoidance is one of my huge depression things!

My mom's friend Carol came from New York and is now All That in the Phoenix Library department.(Head of Acquistions? Regional Director? Something like that.) Her doing that is a funny thought.

I have the library thing, too. And I have netflix because I do the same with video stores. I do not go to the library ever because I will not return the books I have some lost books that I am terrified about that are over 10 years old. I think this is the same part of the brain that kept me from paying my bills on time ever when I was depressed, even when I had the money. I have had the lights turned off because I just couldn't summon up enough energy to pay the bill.

I was also spoiled by growing up with a library where the librarians ALWAYS waived my fines because they liked that I read so much. Also, as a child, there was a limit, I think, of ten books at a time, and I could read ten books in a few days, so I had to go back.

I meant don't go in the first place. If you don't check out books, they can't be overdue and cause you stress.

I'll start going back ot the library at some point and return books on time but I keep thinking, also, that this will be the time that they cut me off for good.

So I think work probably could have stayed open however, it's a mess out there and I'd hate to think about traffic with that much rain and wind. And the dumbasses who think rain means go faster, don't think car lights should be on during the day (even in the rain) "Because I can see", and don't use the turn signal.

My parents both gripe ,"I can never get over" um yeah that's because you don't signal! Geez. Signal and you may be surprised.

CAKE MIX BROWNIES

1 box chocolate cake mix

1 stick butter, melted

2 eggs

1/2 c. splenda

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese

Sounds about right.

Except I can't understand why they used Splenda™ in the mix, then 1/2 "box" of sugar for the icing.

Plus? Coming from a big family, it still causes me a little pause when I read about people using sugar from boxes. Sugar came in 1, 5, 10, and 20 pound bags in my childhood. Occasionally a box would be bought--of cubes...and that would be for a special occasion.

And I have netflix because I do the same with video stores.

Hahaha, yeah. I would return a DVD 5 days late in the drop box, and then not rent any DVDs for another 6 months because I felt bad about the late fees. Netflix is my DVD savior.

The same reasoning applied by those who think parking lights are adequate at dusk, and don't turn headlights on until someone flashes them or they nearly run over a cliff.

They are called parking lights for a reason, folks.

Thank goodness Daytime Running Lights are slowly taking over as the older cars are winnowed out by entropy.
