Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Still on dialup, but that'll change soon. Maybe. Hell, dialup on this is fast compared to what I am used to!

Barb, thanks for the warning. I haven't decided whether to just upload my 8 year old office or splurge for the new one. I should do the new one, what with the not-8 computer and all, but... (Oh, and from elsewhere, I want you to tell me a story...any one you want. Don't know if it'll help or not.)

Wahoo! Successfully managed to load an image of Vilankulos, Mozambique at dawn as a background.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

What's too soon?

I just bought myself a dress. I know it'll be purty, I just hope it fits.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

One of her choices was Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry."

Released at much the same time was Missy Higgins' "Where I Stood", which I strongly recommend as a more articulate expression of this particular situation, and as containing substantially less Fergie.

Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

Okay, the cake wrecks site single-handedly made my week, I think. I don't think I've laughed that hard since I had to carefully carry the Congratulations "Aimee" cake out of the store with Perkins. So funny!

And I missed out on the gay McDonalds stuff since I quit reading backwards once I got to the cakes. But I'm assuming that this means I should eat a Big Mac for gay marriage?
