See, I would have put the inquisition, the forced conversion of pagans, worldwide condemnation of homosexuals, and the failure to ordain women ahead of this. But that's just me.

BTW, I hope that I haven't offended any of our Catholics. I know that many of you take your religion very seriously, and I do not mean to disrespect you or your faith by disagreeing with the stance that the church has taken on this issue.

There. I fixed it for her. Also, just a little while ago her professional title was Director of Communications for the Catholic League, (the link is to a bio page for a radio interview she did about the recent unpleasantness), with no mention of any official work for the diocese, so I'm still holding out a tiny bit of hope that the "hate crime" idiocy is Donohue's fault.
eta: Others got there first, but, yeah, it looks like shitty reporting. Which she of course wouldn't feel any need to correct, because anything that could make her boss seem even tangentially Official would be all to the good. Wankers all.

oh, that's disturbing. The church needs to get on that. You don't want someone claiming to be your spokesperson who you don't control.
The problem is that the various media outlets have dubbed Donohoe and his cronies at the Catholic League as de facto spokespersons for the Catholic Church--whenever there is something Catholic in the news, they're always the first people to show up on the 24-hour news networks, not Father gGiovanni from the Vatican.
