Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

I'm trying to decide if I feel awful enough to go home early.

If you mailed in your bigass document, then I say yes it's time to go home.

YAY DANA!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Amazing news, Dana! Good on you.

I would love to like that wasabi pop, but no, looks like hell on ice to me. But if that could cleanse my palate, damn, that would cleanse my palate.

I just browsed classifieds while waiting on breakfast and I really think I need to move. It seems I could be paying significantly less in my area. But now is sucky time to move, what with incipient job change and all that. Humph.

Yep. Somewhat. Or it might be a good time to move while you still have a job and income on paper?

The first draft was 77 pages! Which I guess doesn't seem like a lot? I don't even know anymore.

Anyway, the problem with going home early is that I would have to get up and walk to the subway. I'll have to get up eventually, but I'm trying to put it off for as long as possible.

I don't know if I want to take the hit in moving costs right now, though.

I need to step away from latimes.com. It always makes apartments seem so much more attractive than in real life.

Please send a rescue squad. Someone's inviting me to be catty and I just don't want to. That's a cry for help, isn't it?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The first draft was 77 pages! Which I guess doesn't seem like a lot?

My professional opinion is that it's definitely a lot.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Yes, that is a lot. If one of my writers sent me a 77 page document to edit, I would stare unbelievingly at the monitor. But that's because I'm not lucky enough to have shrift as one of my writers. No, my writers are people I want to smack on the nose with the style guide.

Every so often, when I'm stuck in horrible work meetings, I fantasize about what my job would be like if I had ita as a project manager, shrift as a writer, and Plei as the content build queen. Then I sigh wistfully, because I know my team, while pretty awesome, will never be that awesome.

I am aware of all internet traditions (with dirty language).

Perhaps the best cake ever. I mean, come on. Just the mottling alone!
