I've never played it. That's why the cats won. Right, Laga?
Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'm loving the theater discussion - I've got a pretty good background in Shakespear and classical Greek drama, but not a lot else, although I've read plays by Durrenmat, Lorca, Barrie.
And the woman whining about having to buy her kids real shoes ... sigh ... makes me sad but doesn't surprise me. A while ago a woman who worked here (but doesn't any longer) spent a lot of time and effort getting her son into a school with a strict dress code. Then, in his first week, spent three days on the phone telling them they should relax the dress code for him. The issues were tucking in his shirt (he's a "portly young man" and it embarrassed him) and having to wear black dress shoes (not sneakers/athletic shoes). I think she lost the argument, but it wasn't for lack of trying.
And meara's new company - Lesbians R Us?
Both my kids do own leather shoes, but I can totally see little boys only having sneakers or sandals. I mean, I've been to weddings and funerals where little boys were presumably at their dressiest, and that meant khakis, button-down shirt, and sneakers. Heck, I've seen adults dressed like that at those occasions.
Btw, I'm sure the Carly/Caryl thing was a typo on his part which I blithely copied without thinking about it since we've discussed her work in the past and I hear her name as "Caryl" when I think about her.
Oh, sure, it was just the third time I saw the typo I felt obliged to point it out. Because I am a Buffista and that is what I do! I thought ND would appreciate knowing that someone does know her to the extent of being pedantic about it, heh.
In my original comment about Churchill in this thread, my point was that I thought she would be terribly difficult to teach as literature, which Fay's experience seems to possibly bear out. I think she really needs to be performed to be appreciated. And I don't think that means weaker writing. Plays are written to be performed, IMHO.
And I'm having kitty-mom guilt. Time for Harvey's annual shots. He's ten and having a dental cleaning done, so figured, might as well rock that full panel blood work too. Not to mention, microchipping for those times when he succeeds in sneaking past us as we open the door.
Best just to think of all those nice vet techs he gets to snuggle while he is there.
Wow. That's very interesting.
Er, upon rereading that sounds like I'm taking the piss. Just to clarify: not taking the piss! I eschewed exclamation marks because it felt a bit too air-headed, and yet without them it looks like I'm being sarcastic. Um.
(...in other news: yes, Fay is still a Buffista. She can sit here and angst over the punctuation in her own post until the cows come home. Yes she can!)

And we wouldn't have it any other way.
I just friended a bunch of you on facebook, in case you get a friend request from someone you're not quite sure who it is. it's me!!
I really should be working instead of trolling the internet, but...DO NOT WANT.
Heck, I've seen adults dressed like that at those occasions.
but that doesn't make it right! I mean, I don't have kids, but when I was a kid, we had dress up clothes, including shoes. Kid friendly, but still dress shoes.
I am in a very bad, don't get near me, don't talk to me, why aren't you talking to me, blue funk mood. And I do. not. like. World beware.
