Oh, shit, ND. I'm sorry. So epically not what you needed.
eta: Also, what amych said. It's extremely passive-aggressive weaselly of them, and they can STFU anytime now.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Passive-aggressive motherfuckers in their little scooter-cars and fezzes.
Heh. Let's kick some SHRINER ass!
It's ridiculous, Drew. I mean, I wonder what would happen I suddenly died -- there's no way my parents and friends could contact everyone that would want to (I think) know.
(Although, on a macabre note, I HAVE told my parents if I ever kicked off suddenly that they should come here and leave a message, and I know my dad would try. It would be like World of Warcraft, without killer polar bears, to him.)
EDIT: ON reflection, that post turned into me-me-me, and that's not what I intended. It's just, almost no one in today's flung out society, can be expected to know all the contacts in another person's life, even if they are close.
Honey they were grieving too. They've known dad for at least 25 years and didn't even know he had died. I had to break that news to them as well. I'm upset that word did not get out to all the Masonic organizations. I was assured that it would. It is all made from suck and adds to the list of calls I need to make tomorrow.
I know they were grieving. I know that it was upsetting. I just...there's no way you could have known that the word didn't get out as the others had promised it would. I'm just angry at the situation and upset that you had to take any flak for it at all.
Yeah, I think immediate family should have at least a 2 week period before someone gives them a "talking to," subtexty or not.
The idea of a memorial is to celebrate a person's life and grive their passing, and to support that person's family. It's too bad they weren't there for the formal memorial, but I would think that this would not supercede (should NOT supercede) their own informal memorial and any support they could wish to give to the fam.
I mean, aren't Masons all about the widow's son, anyway?
(Granted, all my Mason stuff comes from the Illuminatus trilogy, so it's awee bit skewed...or, who knows, maybe right on?)
Yeah but I also never became a mason.
We're just feeling protective of you, sweetheart. Please don't feel like you have to defend them. I know his words came from a place of grief.
And now you never will, so there.
ND, if you want me to go back and edit, I will -- I was piling on Kristin's a bit, and mostly coming from this:
immediate family should have at least a 2 week period before someone gives them a "talking to," subtexty or not.
kind of place. I do feel like you didn't need to catch the brunt of it, especially since I know those clubs have good communication channels that could be helping you rather than landing on you - but if it's hurting more than helping, I'll happily edit to make myself look crazy.
