It was hard earned what with the majority of my exes having not done things that way.
Trust me, having someone tell you they can't be with you sucks, but having them say nothing and then get married without telling you? Far worse.
ETA: Which is to say, yeah it hurts, but guess which one left me emotionally scarred and which one I leave random text messages for with inside jokes like "Raisins and Toast!"
Oof, Sean. That's always so tough. Good luck, because of course, the doing is only part of it, and aftermath is always part of it too (even if just in your own head). Eep. Hugs.
Am in Portland, headed for the last day of this work trip. Sadly, today's bit was ...OK, "exciting" is not the right word, but for a whie it looked like it was goign to all be wrapped up today, and I'd only ever have to come one more time, and do some basic-to-my-job stuff, not anything that required knowing about anything specific-to-the-project-or-location stuff. Which would've been awesome. And then my hopes were dashed. Sigh. Ancient tangled things come home to roost, and I'll have to come back a few more times and deal with them in somewhat annoying ways. The people are very pleasant though, which is something good. Ah well.
One more, and then I'm home. I"ve realized all this working from home means I'm not used to this much TALKING--my throat is really sore!!

If you decided it needed to end, then the fact that you decided that confirms that it was the right decision. Telling her honestly and in person was the right thing to do. You did the right thing in a mature way. And that always hurts more in the short term, but save pain for everyone in the long run.
Sean, I'm very sorry for the both of you. I agree with the others, it's so hard being the one to end a relationship; it means a lot that you ended it honestly.
(((Sean))) I'm letting DJ speak for me. The hugs are mine, and I'll be thinking of you.

Very rough. {{{{{{{{{{Sean}}}}}}}}}}
Oh, Sean. I wish I could do or say *anything* that would make you feel better, even a tiny bit.
Go to Drew and Kristin's, honey. It'll help.
Sean, I'm home alone for the next few days, so please feel free to come stay. I could use the company, too.
