I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I just got a call from their attorney, asking me if we'd hand over the keys in exchange for half a month's rent.

BWHAHAHA!!! Not a surprise, frankly. I'm sure that you've thought of this, but you are liable for the place until 30 July. Plus, if they are trying to move in, that makes a mess for the professional cleaning bit, and any damage that might be done during the move. I wouldn't do it for less than a full month's rent, plus a guarantee that they would cover any fees charged by the rental company.

move out and draw fire

Yep. If we agree to hand over the keys now and vacate, the PM will most likely keep our deposit (which is a full month's rent) and possibly sue us for the cost of the cleaning.

Not a surprise, frankly.

No, really it isn't. Neither is the fact that they apparently did not tell their attorney the truth. They told her that we'd asked to move out July 14.

This is why I do everything via gmail with the PMs. I want it all discoverable in case of a lawsuit.

In better news, the new house has a hot tub, and it seems to be the one thing that's in perfect shape. Housewarming hot tub party!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Raq, that's craziness!

I don't like today. Can I have a different one?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Yes, sj. As soon as I find out where they keep the spare days.

Raq, eesh. Such maroons. But, yay, hot tub!

Cooling temp-ma to Liv.

Yes. When you find a different version, let me know.

Raq, I am just agog at the whole saga. But yay hot tub?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I should wait until after that trip, yes? The airport won't take a paper license, will they? How do they handle folks that have temporaries?

Oregon gave me a scannable paper license and the real one arrived in well under a week. Different states, different weirdness.

I did have to take the written (shutupshutupshutup, yes I failed the first time because I hadn't even looked at the booklet. Who goes to the DMV and gets called up two minutes later? I am from California, I figured I had a couple of hours...) but not the driving because I was swapping from one validly licensed state to another.

Um, and I might have waited two and a half years until my CA was expiring. But I would have been mildly in trouble (fixit ticket) if I'd been pulled over during that time.

That said, I flew a couple of days later with my passport. But I rented a car easily enough with the paper.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I did have to take the written

In NC, everyone has to take the written, and it's a constant refrain from new arrivals that they (a) failed the first time and (b) didn't think you'd have to study for such a thing once you'd been driving for a while. IOW, I'm not about to laugh at you.

On the plus side, they do make you a license on the spot, and if it's a really slow day they might even let you have a do-over on an especially bad photo.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

CA makes you take the written as well, and they make you RE-TAKE it if you're there for any sort of state change (new classification, new address) on your DL and it's been over a year since you took it. Got ambushed by that one last year when I went to take the motorcycle written.
