I'm exhausted. I helped my dad sort through four boxes of old books today. Found some neat stuff -- a Hebrew primer from Germany from the late 1800s, a series of prayer books from the 1820s, the entire works of both Goethe and Heide, a few little German story books for kids from the 1920s, and a whole bunch of German novels from the 1930s. We're keeping most of the religious stuff and a few of the kids books with pretty pictures, selling most of the novels, and checking to see if the German Jewish museum wants the Hebrew primer and a few of the other things.

Heh, I walk out of the groomer's with Sammie (long haired cat) for $15 max, and that includes tip. Of course, this is rural mid-America, and she only gets a good brushin' and a trim around her hind end. The woman did say that her full service charge for a cat would be $30, including bath.

We're considering a place called The Studly Pooch. snerk.

Brandy is 35-50 depending on how much stuff we get done. I've been clipping her myself to keep her hair short for swimming but I take her from time to time to get the tougher stuff done.

These books had been all mixed together. When my grandmother died, my parents just sorted the books into boxes labeled "German books," "Hebrew books," and "English books" (I think four boxes of German, three of Hebrew, and four of English), and they'd just been sitting there because no one can figure out what to do with just boxes and boxes of books. Today we finally sat down and sorted through them (the German ones, at least) to actually figure out what was in there and what we wanted to keep. We ended up with three boxes of books to sell and one box of books to keep. Most of the ones to sell are novels from the thirties.

Shit. Remember the fire in my neighborhood last summer? Well, there was just a woman hit by a drunk driver on the same block. She's in critical condition, and I'm turning off the news.
