vw, when I was an infant, we had a German Shepherd who freaked at thunderstorms and would crawl under the skirts of the bassinet. My parents had a great time with the wee infant girl defending the ferocious guard dog against the heavens.
Current dog could give a rat's ass about storms - doesn't even look up - but fireworks put her into Defcon 1 defensive mode. (Same with blimps, and occasionally snowmen.)
Laga you're in LA, right? DH's cousin is a dog groomer, works out of MDR. I'm not sure what it costs but I could ask her for an estimate.
I posted few more pictures of the kids heading off to Prom.
JZ - I didn't get a shot of the actual pole. Another mom and I were laughing too hard, and daring each other to "give it a go", to remember to snap a shot.

Had a good evening--met up with friends for some dinner (I think my sensible choice of small gumbo and small salad were then demolished by eating half of my friend's fries and ordering a brownie and ice cream) and then going to a bluegrass/country/fiddle thing, where the opening band was brothers who did a guitar and spoons and washboard thing. It was quite fun, though we didn't stay til the end. And I met my friend's new ...umfriend, who seems very cool. I approve. Which is a relief.
But dear lord, will someone please send me the motivation to clean my house? Cause this is ridiculous.
So, funny story.
I had several weird dreams last night, but in each of the dreams there was a common thread--I had a rash and was all itchy.
Well, guess who is *covered* in a rash and all itchy? I have NO idea what this is from, but it is all over and quite lovely and itchy. I just took some benedryl to see if that clears it up.
