Don't worry, Boomer. I'm sure that nice, strangely-familiar looking lady with the sandy hair and the Kiwi accent means it when she says she'll erase the tape.

I have no comment at this time.

The top crisis card info has been delivered. Awaiting the sun on the other side of the world to rise and wake Boomer.

Ok. This is... a tough crisis. Very tough. But it has a jump icon, so I choose to leave it on top. That finishes my action, so I can tell you all what it is. The Crisis Card this round is:
Forced Water Mining
Current Player's Choice
Not an easy choice, I'm going to need to hear the crew's opinions. We have three otions:
1. Go for the skill check. Passing gives us 1 Food; but it's the most expensive skill check on a Crisis Card, and being the start of the game, we're already short on cards. If we try and fail, we lose lots of cards and hurt two resources to boot. The only colour that counts negative is Red, which means that Destiny has about a 60% chance of putting in two positive cards and hardly any chance of two negative.
2. Take the discard option. We each lose a random card, which may be more or less expensive than trying to pass the skill check, and we'd still lose 1 Morale; but Population would be safe.
3. We take the skill check and deliberately fail it. We lose Population and Morale, but keep our cards.
Any way we go, we lose a fair amount. I am currently leaning towards: if someone can contribute an Investigative Committee, we do the skill check (and hope the odds pay off with Destiny). If no one has an IC, take the discard option - less risky. I need some input from the crew to decide. Three questions:
1. Which option do you think we should take?
2. (For Zarek and the Chief) If we take the skill check, do you have an IC you can play?
3. If we take the skill check, can you help? (For instance, Helo and Apollo have only one positive card; if it's only a 1, they won't be much help here.)*
For myself, I can help with this skill check. Everyone, let me know your opinion about this check.

Quite the jam the Gods have put up there. Insent with details of the card that can't be posted here in thread.

Oh, another question: any cards played for their effect are played face up. What was the value of Helo's SP on the scouting roll?
BSG
The jump icon advances us regardless, yes?
And, if we discard we still get +1 food?
If so, I would say discard.
Note: In keeping with my generally being out of it on Caprica, I can't really help with the skill check.

What is the difficulty of this check?
I can help. I would prefer to help rather than just discard, but I can see the arguments for both.
What is the difficulty of this check?
DC 17, highest DC in the deck. Only Red counts negative - all the other colours are positive.

Yes and yes. However, if we discard we lose 1 Morale as well, as the fleet realises that their leadership is just not prepared to take the hard decisions. Or possibly when they realise that the rumours that the ice was composed entirely of gin were just an attempt by Tigh to stop the marines raiding his secret stash.
