Gaming 1: You are likely to be eaten by a grue
A thread for the discussion of games: board, LARP, MMORPG, video, tabletop RPG, game theory etc. etc. and all attendant news, developments and ancillary subjects thereof, as well as coordinating/scheduling games either online or IRL. All are welcome to chime in, talk about their favorite games or learn about gaming of any sort.
PLEASE TO WHITEFONT SPOILERS for video games, RPG modules or anything for which foreknowledge of events might lessen one's enjoyment of whatever gaming experience.
We had a guy who would fall asleep during gaming also. He wouldn't wander off or anything, just fall asleep in his chair. When he was awake, his contributions were 50% very good and 50% "set it on fire."
He was part of the party I referred to as "Chaotic Selfish;" first time I've considered putting a paladin babysitter in their party.
I always always sketch when I'm a player; it's how I take notes and retain stuff. I'm usually sketching stuff from the game, and I'm pretty much always the player with the best idea of what's going on. But it still pisses my DH off when he's GMing. Which I understand, but I can't not sketch.
I'll see if I can get him to log in here and describe the several random-card-draw RPGs he ran for us; they were all pretty awesome.
Sigh. I miss gaming. We have a regular Saturday thing, but it's just me and DH and one other person.

Almost half the people I game with are artists of one stripe or another. I can't imagine a gaming session were someone wasn't sketching something. Granted, it's often visual jokes based on something someone said or an in-game occurance and it disrupts the session with laughter for a couple minutes, but still.

After launching, you can Use the extra action to either move or attack. The turn sequence is strict -- you move, then take an action. You can't hold the move for after or during the action (if, as with the launch action, it has more than one part).
That's lame. Okay, there goes one of my ideas for next turn.
I still don't think we need to waste one our two nukes yet. We've got two pilots in the air capable of taking out the existing raiders and one of the basestars is disabled. Plus, none of the raiders are in the same sector as either of the basestars, so we wouldn't be able to take advantage of the nuke's collateral damage if Adama were to roll for it.

When I was in law school, I'd often do homework while gaming. In fairness, I rarely had to ask what was going on when it got to my turn.

That reminds me of the first superhero campaign I was in. The GM ended it when most of the players turned out to be more superneutrals, and one was becoming a downright supervillain. (I was kind of in a category by myself -- heart in the right heroic place, but too timid to act as heroically as the GM wanted.)
Sketching, homework...that's all okay, so long as it doesn't take up the whole table and you know what's going on so the rest of the party isn't waiting for you to understand a GM recap. So long as the game goes smoothly, I'll put up with a number of things.
I mean, one of our gaming group smoked a lot of pot. He couldn't smoke it in the house, naturally, so he'd find a discreet place in the back outside. This could have been a problem (for the game, I'm not going into, nor was I concerned with the legal problems), EXCEPT he was always on top of what was going on and if we needed him while he was out doing his thing he would SPRINT in and take care of business.
And that's all I ask.

I agree. That was the big thing holding me back from XO'ing Pappy. With sector 6 clear, I think it's time to try and clean up sector 4.
MOVE -
None, I stay in Sector 4.
ACTION -
I play RED 4, Max Firepower and go medieval on the Cylons. First, attack the raiders. If a roll fails, use the next roll to attack again. The heavy raider has the least short term damage impact, if we leave it alive, it's not damaging, but the regular raiders are threatening those civvies. ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!
We also used the smoke breaks for GM asides, so other players didn't hear things their characters wouldn't know.

I'm sad I never got to game with Omnis, ND, MM & Sean. Ooh maybe I should bring a dungeon delve to my next f2f.
The person who ran the gaming group I was part of has just moved to within 3 blocks of my house! I'm going to try and talk her into starting up the Victorian Vampire game again.
Yeah, aside from annoying fire guy we had a pretty good group.

I'm also not certain that it is time for the nuke option. Can we XO one of the viper pilots instead and see if we can take out some more vipers?
We don't have anyone is Weapons Control right now either, so Galactica can't take shots at the basestars right now.

yeah, I figured I could be more helpful in a viper. I think firing on the basestar from weapons control is a good idea. I don't have a Maximum Firepower card at the moment so XOing me wouldnt do a lot of good right now.
