Wesley: Illyria can be...difficult. Testing her might be hard without getting someone seriously hurt. Angel: We'll make Spike do it. Wesley: Good.

Thrive to spite them

I somehow missed the part whewr it's 20 bucks. I will have to wait on that until next month or so. But I'm up for playing other games with buffistas on steam that are free or I already have.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

yeah, the tabletop does cost. But Laga's DH says it goes on sale every couple weeks.

Laga, D, and I just played some Dominion! Once we figured out how to do the cards, it was pretty sweet. Not a lot of automatic things, like a computer game. It's like a table top game, that is easier to clean up.

Then D showed me some of the RPG sets he found. Some rather nice maps! Very cool! The 3-d walk throughs is fun. And the GM has power to fog out areas, so the players can only see a limited area until discovery. Very handy.

We should find a time, and play some games in real time. The hardest part is getting the Down Under gang on. Someone will have to wake early/stay up late. Would love to play a game with BT!

I realized I have a Best Buy rewards thing left so when it's safe to drive to Best buy I'll pick up a steam gift card to use

So then, we have four players signed up - Connie, Laga, omnis and chrismg. With the first expansion set in play, we can have up to five players; so if anyone else would like to sign up, there's still room for one more. (Failing that, perhaps I should ask Ryan if he wants to play.)

We have people in favour and no one against, so I'll add goals to this game. I have a bit of work to add them to the files, but we should be ok to start within the next day or two.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I have never played Paranoia (and probably never will, because I don't think I could deal with the backstabbing and insanity) but boy was watching Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, Matt Mercer, Laura Bailey and Co play a hell of a lot of fun. I really hope Geek & Sundry posts it on their website later, because I was crying from laughing so hard at points.

Yeah, that title is pretty spot-on.

Everyone has received their starting worlds and hands, and given me their discards. We are ready to go! Here is everyone's starting world:

Connie: Epsilon Eridani. This world gives her 1 military strength, and can consume 1 good for 1 VP and 1 card.

Laga: Ancient Race. This is a Green windfall world, and starts with a good on it. Special rule: Laga had to discard down to 3 cards at game start instead of 4 cards.

omnis: Separatist Colony. This world gives him +1 military strength, and he looks at 2 extra cards when Exploring.

chrismg: Doomed World. This world lets him look at 1 extra card when Exploring. In addition, once during the game he may discard this world from his layout, to play any non-military world at zero cost (except Alien worlds). It's worth -1, so it would be a good idea to use it at some stage.

It's time for everyone to choose their Action cards for round 1. Everyone, please send me your choice. But there's another thing to cover before we begin. For the first time this game, we've added goals to the mix. Next post will present the goals drawn randomly for this game.

There are six goals in this game, of two types. First are two "Most" goals. They are worth 5 VPs each, and can change hands during the game.

Blue/Brown Worlds: goes to the player with the most Blue and/or Brown worlds (production or windfall) in their layout, as long as they have at least 3.

Military Strength: goes to the player with the greatest military strength, as long as they have at least 6.

There are also four "First" goals, worth 3 VPs each. They go to the first player to meet the stated condition.

Goods: First player to have four goods on their layout at the same time.

Alien: First player to have three Alien cards (cards with "Alien" in the title) in their layout.

Discard: First player to have to discard down to their hand limit at round end.

Status: First player to play a 6-cost development.
