Game 3 of Race for the Galaxy is now underway! This will, fittingly, be a three-player game, between Connie, chrismg and Laga. We have an expanded set of starting worlds, and two of them make an appearance. Here is the opening layout

Round 0
Connie Neil
Layout
Doomed World (Non-Military World)

Cards in Hand: 4
Victory Points: 0
Layout Value: -1

chrismg
Layout
Ancient Race (Non-Military Green Windfall World) + good

Cards in Hand: 3
Victory Points: 0
Layout Value: 1

Laga
Layout
Earth's Lost Colony (Non-Military Blue Production World)

Cards in Hand: 4
Victory Points: 0
Layout Value: 1

VP Pool: 48

Connie starts with Doomed World. This world acts like a Colony Ship - once during the game, it may be discarded to settle a non-military, non-Alien world for zero cost. Oh, and it's worth -1 VPs, to ensure you're properly motivated to do so. It's a great starting world, as long as you can find something good to replace it with. It allows you to look at one extra card when Exploring, to help make that happen.

chrismg has Ancient Race. This is a perfectly straightforward Green windfall world. It has a good already on it, which may be traded right away for four cards. That's probably a bit too good; so to balance it out, chrismg has to discard down to 3 cards before the game starts. Which he does.

Laga has Earth's Lost Colony, which we've seen before. It's a Blue production world that carries its own Consume power, one good for 1 VP. Excellent for produce-and-consume.

Next up: Action cards.

Everyone has chosen a different phase for Round 1:

Connie Neil: Phase III - Settle
chrismg: Phase IV ($) - Consume (Trade)
Laga: Phase II - Develop

Phases II-IV get a look-in. Phase II (Develop) is first. Everyone, please send me your orders. You can also send me COs for Phase III (Settle) if you wish.

Orders are in for Phase II. Connie and chrismg both pass; Laga plays Investment Credits. She will now get a 1-card discount on any further developments she plays. And because choosing Phase II also gives you a 1-card discount, she plays it for zero cost.

Phase III (Settle) is next. If you haven't sent me COs, please do so now.

Phase III: now chrismg and Laga pass. Connie plays Galactic Resort. This Blue windfall world costs 3 discards - the remainder of her hand. It has a Consume power - consume a good for 1 VP and 1 card. This will become relevant in Phase IV. She draws 1 card for having chosen Settle.

We have a little more participation in Phase IV (Consume). While Laga passes, having no goods to consume. chrismg chose to trade the Green good on Ancient Race for 4 cards.

Connie also gets to participate. The newly played Galactic Resort, being a windfall world, has a good on it; and a Consume power with which to dispatch it. She gets 1 VP and 1 card.

Cards are going out now, which ends Round 1 Time to choose Action cards for Round 2. Everyone, please send me your choice.
