Brig (Zarek): 7 YP

Destiny: 2 cards
Kat: 0 cards
Chief: Preventative Policy 4
Romo: (max 1 card)
Zarek: (COs received)

Tally = 4 + Destiny. Romo is next.

I have everyone's play, and it looks like we have time for just one more skill check of awesome in this game. Plays:

Brig (Zarek): 7 YP(T)

Destiny: 2 cards
Kat: 0 cards
Chief: Preventative Policy 4
Romo: Full Throttle 2
Zarek: Exploit Weakness 5

Tally: 9 - 2 = 7 + Destiny. If Destiny is at worst neutral, Zarek will walk free! It reveals:

Trust Instincts 0
A Better Machine 3

Tally is now 10! However, before we resolve the check, we need to deal with the skill check effects, and we have a few. The TI-0 adds two more Destiny cards to the check:

Dradis Contact 0
Personal Vices 3

Tally is 13! But we have more to resolve now, no less than four Treachery cards. Before we can resolve them, however, Destiny's additional cards reduced it to 6 cards. It gets replenished and reshuffled immediately. That in turn exhausted both the Piloting and the Treachery decks. I've reshuffled the discards (which do not include any cards within this check, as it has not yet been resolved).

Back to the Treachery. Their effects are:

Dradis Contact 0: Add 2 raiders to Sector 1. Total number of raiders on the board: 12.

A Better Machine 3: Add two Treachery to Destiny (again).

Personal Vices 3: Now it gets interesting. Each human player draws 1 Treachery, and Zarek gets a second mutiny card! Off to the Brig with him! But per the Unofficial FAQ, the skill check abilities are resolved before the check itself, so he is currently still in the Brig! Choice of mutiny cards is going out.

Exploit Weakness 5: Finally, the current player (Zarek) chooses one human player to draw a mutiny card. Will it be Kat? No, he chooses himself. Two more mutiny cards are off to Zarek for his selection.

President Zarek, once you have made your choice on the mutiny card options, you will have three mutiny cards and must discard two. Please post your choice of discards.

And once that's done, we can worry about the skill check itself. and the result is:

Tally: 15 - 2 = 13. Pass! President Zarek, when you're ready, please post where on Galactica you will move to.

Excitement! Zarek escapes the Brig the only way he knows how, through underhanded dealings and Treachery. But it's not over yet. The PV and the EW within the check couldn't rebrig Zarek, but this check is Reckless. Treachery will ahve one last chance to return him to his cell - after we have taken care of all the new cards and discards.

Zarek has made his choices, and discards Ruined Reputation and Peaceful Resistance. At last we come to the check resolution. Zarek is free! He moves to Weapons Control, which of course is not at all suspicious.

However, this check was Reckless, quite awesomely so, and now we discover if there is a price to be paid. What with the Treachery flying in multiple directions, I have watched the outcome of this Recklessness change about four times over the course of this check resolution. But finally it's settled in the one place, and the top card of the Treachery deck is:

Dradis Contact 0

We have a result! Two more raiders are added to Sector 1. Only two raiders remain in reserves. We now turn over and resolve the second Treachery card. If it is a PV-3, Zarek will draw yet another mutiny card and be sent back to the Brig immediately! It is:

A Better Machine 3

Well, of course it is. Two more Treachery for the destiny deck! I just reshuffled the Treachery discards, and already the deck is down to five cards. The destiny deck, meanwhile, now contains 22 cards. But the important news is that Zarek has passed through the final test, in accordance with the prophecy. He remains at large!

Wait, what prophecy? Since Zarek's a free man, he gets a crisis card, and apparently there's some disagreement as to whether Zarek actually fits the bill of the prophesied leader that will bring humanity to Earth. There's a breakaway sect claiming that persecution doesn't count if you're actually guilty of the things you're accused of. Zarek's crisis card is:

Religious Turmoil
Current Player's Choice

President Zarek, when you're ready, please post your choice.

Hmmmm. With me out of the Brig, I actually feel pretty good about the Skill Check. Chief, can you help?

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

BSG ("Chief" Galen Tyrol)

I can't help at all. And I would rather not risk our lowest resource. I think we should take option 2, and next turn push the button. Just save us some fuel, go for the lowest.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

BSG

bleah option 2 sucks but I can't help at all with the check.

The good news is I can activate the FTL with no risk of pop loss on my turn.

May I suggest the raiders in my sector are activated first? I sort of have a plan should they both be poor shots.
